  • Patent number: 11953579
Abstract: A transmitter device of a bi-static or multi-static radar system is disclosed and implemented for aerial surveillance. The transmitter device is intended to be on board a satellite orbiting the Earth. Once in orbit, the transmitter device is configured to obtain information relating to a region of interest monitored by at least one receiver device of the radar system, and to transmit a signal in a radio beam illuminating at least one portion of the region of interest.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 7, 2021
Date of Patent: April 9, 2024
Assignee: AIRBUS DEFENCE AND SPACE SAS
Inventors: Nicolas Jeannin, Frédéric Voulouzan, Philippe Bertheux

  • Patent number: 9356685
Abstract: A satellite communication system including a multibeam satellite for generating a plurality of feeder beams and a plurality of user beams over a region of interest, a plurality of spatially-separated gateway stations for providing feeder links to said multibeam satellite via respective feeder beams; and a control for operating said gateway stations and multibeam satellite such that: in nominal conditions, NGW gateway stations exchange data with K user beams, each of the gateway stations allocating a fraction of its bandwidth to each of the user beams; and in case of fading, data are switched from faded to unfaded gateway stations, whereby none of said user terminals experiences service outage. A method of performing satellite communication using the satellite communication system, and a multibeam communication satellite payload for carrying out the method are provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 29, 2012
Date of Patent: May 31, 2016
    Assignee: Agence Spatiale Europeenne
Inventors: Piero Angeletti, Riccardo De Gaudenzi, Emiliano Re, Nicolas Jeannin, Alfredo Vernucci
