Abstract: A method and a device for starting a diesel engine with no heater plugs, comprising pistons and cylinders defining combustion chambers into which gases intended to participate in combustion are admitted, in which method a strategy is adopted whereby the gases present in the chambers are heated up in such a way as to raise them to a minimum temperature within the entire volume defined by the chambers when the pistons are in the position of maximum compression or close to that position. The gases are heated by compressing the air in the cylinders using an electrical machine, or using a heating system in the intake.

Abstract: A starting device for an internal combustion engine, especially that of a motor vehicle, comprises: a stator, or inductor, comprising an inductor coil (5), said inductor coil comprising at least first (43), second (41) and third (42) windings that are all electrically connected in parallel; a rotor associated with said stator and having a longitudinal axis; a starter element that can be rotated by the rotor; and a contractor designed to supply power, in a prerotation first phase, only to the first winding (43) of the inductor coil and, in a full-speed second phase, following the first phase, to the first, second and third windings (41, 42) of the inductor coil.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for controlling a starter for a heat engine that is equipped with an electric motor having a field coil with several windings and an armature winding, both of which are mounted in series, comprising a power contact which is equipped with terminals, one of said terminals being connected to the positive terminal (+Bat) of a battery and the other terminal being connected to the field coil having several windings. The inventive device comprises first means which, in a first phase upon closure of the power contact, activate part of the windings of the field coil and second delayed-action means which, in a second phase during which the power contact is always closed, activate at least a large number of the windings of the coil. The invention is intended for the heat engine starter of a vehicle.
