  • Patent number: 9400033
Abstract: A method for providing a link-plate chain having increased strength by stretching the chain between a pair of spaced, rotatable conical pulleys, wherein the link-plate chain is stretched in opposite directions of rotation of the conical pulleys. The opposite stretching operations impart deformation forces on at least the link-plates and/or rocker pressure pieces that interconnect link plates of the link-plate chain. The deformation forces cause parts of the chain to undergo plasticization regions of the chain components and that result in increased chain strength.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 27, 2013
Date of Patent: July 26, 2016
Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG
    Inventor: Nicolas Rickling
  • Patent number: 9103407
Abstract: The invention relates to a disk set arrangement with a driving disk set and a driven disk set for a chain-type CVT, wherein each disk set of said arrangement comprises two disks that are axially displaceable relative to one another on a shaft and a chain arrangement comprising thrust pieces that are active between said disks. The longitudinal axis of said thrust pieces runs parallel to the rotational axis of the shaft, and the frictional surfaces of the disks and the thrust pieces have a curvature determined by a radius and an eccentricity, wherein the eccentricity of the disk in the driving disk set is different to that of the driven disk set.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 11, 2015

  • Patent number: 8795110
Abstract: A disk set arrangement for a chain-CVT having a function-optimized disk set surface contour. The CVT includes a first drive disk set and a second driven disk set, wherein the disk sets of the disk set arrangement in each case include two disks mounted on respective shafts. One disk of each of the disk sets can be displaced axially relative to an opposed axially fixed disk. An endless chain arrangement with rocker pressure pieces is operative between the disk sets to transmit torque. The rocker pressure pieces have longitudinal axes that extend parallel to the rotational axes of the shafts, and include outer axial ends that contact the contoured disk surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20060058143
Abstract: An automatic transmission in the form of a belt-driven conical-pulley transmission having pairs of conical disks at its input and output ends. An endless torque-transmitting member passes between and around the pairs of disks to transmit torque therebetween. The torque-transmitting member is a plate-link chain having links with acoustically optimized hinge joints by providing increased surface roughness on contact surfaces at which connecting pins contact plate link opening surfaces.
