  • Patent number: 7205687
Abstract: An electric motor, e.g., a linear motor, includes a cooling system, which may permit the dissipation of heat from the primary part of the electric motor in a simple but effective manner. The iron core and the coils may be surrounded by a potting compound that stabilizes one of the coils and the electrical leads of the latter so that channels are formed in the gaps of the iron core. A coolant, e.g., air, flows from a first flow chamber through the channels into a second flow chamber. The direct contact with the iron core, potting compound, and optionally with the regions of the coils that are not filled with compound produces effective cooling action, without having to forego advantages of stability provided by an encapsulated primary part.

  • Patent number: 5962937
Abstract: This X-Y table can move a load (CH) along perpendicular active directions (X, Y). It includes a base (1), a carriage (4) for the load (CH) mounted so as to move on the base along the active directions (X; Y), in particular via sliding means (3, 4) for each of said directions, two linear motors (B, C) which each include a stator (5) and a moving element (6) coupled to the carriage (4). Coils and magnets are respectively embedded in the moving elements and in the stators for applying driving forces to the carriage (4) along the active direction of the motor concerned (B, C), while allowing the moving element mobility in the other active direction with respect to said stator element.

  • Patent number: 5910691
Abstract: A synchronous permanent magnet linear motor (8) comprising an armature (76) formed by: --a pack of ferromagnetic laminations forming a yoke (1) and a plurality of teeth (25) situated between two end teeth (78 and 80); --a plurality of coils disposed in said slots so that each of them surrounds at least one of said teeth (25); --an inductor (61) disposed facing the armature and comprising a plurality of permanent magnets (8) arranged in a regular manner with a pole pitch .tau.p and defining a general plane (82). The end teeth (78 and 80) are also formed by said pack of ferromagnetic laminations and they have a profile formed of a first segment (84) defining a substantially constant air-gap with the general plane (82) and a second segment (86) defining an air-gap which increases in the direction moving away from the central part (90) of the armature. The laminations of said pack of laminations have essentially identical profiles.

  • Patent number: 5642013
Abstract: The synchronous motor comprises an armature having a plurality of teeth solid with a yoke and spaced apart by slots in which coils are accommodated. An inductor comprising a plurality of magnets borne by a sole is spaced from the armature by an air-grap. The motor is so dimensioned that the teeth of the armature have a constant cross-section over their entire height and the width of the slots alongside the tooth heads is substantially equal to the width of these heads to minimize the parasitic reluctant effect due to the slots. The motor may be linear or rotary.
