Abstract: A method for improving cardiovascular health in a human subject includes administering a composition to the human subject identified as being at risk for cardiovascular disease. The composition includes macular xanthophylls. In certain instances, the composition may be provided as a single consumable including lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin. The single consumable may include 10 milligrams of lutein, 2 milligrams of zeaxanthin, and 10 milligrams of meso-zeaxanthin. In other instances, the composition may be provided as two or more consumable. The two or more consumable collectively including lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin.
