Abstract: Various face shield assemblies for hard hats are described. In one embodiment, the face shield assembly includes a hard hat, a mounting bracket, a face shield, a first pivot arm and a second pivot arm. The first pivot arm and second pivot arm are pivotally coupled to the hard hat and rotate with respect to the mounting bracket and the face shield. The face shield is coupled to the first pivot arm and the second pivot arm. The face shield actuates between stowed and operating positions such that the face shield can avoid objects near a front of the hard hat, such as a bill and/or lamp. In other embodiments the face shield assembly includes an adjustable frame coupled to the face shield and the hard hat. The adjustable frame rotates and/or slides with respect to the hard hat.

Abstract: Hanging tool storage devices, shown as tool boards are provided. In some embodiments, the tool board includes a base and a plurality of pocket panels adjustably coupled to various locations of the base. In certain embodiments, the base includes a plurality of base members that releasably couple to one another to form different base shapes and sizes. In other specific embodiments, the pocket panels are rigid and modularly connect to one another to form a rigid structure.

Abstract: One or more coupling mechanisms for a modular system are provided. The coupling mechanisms work with modular units in a system, such as modular tool storage units. The coupling systems are configured to couple with and integrate various objects into the modular system, such as bags and tools. The coupling systems include various configurations of male and female couplers to facilitate coupling with utility modules including corresponding male and female couplers.

For example, lamps, face-shields, reflectors, tool carriers, and eyeglass holders are interchangeably releasably coupled to mounting and/or auxiliary ridges on the hard hat. In this way, the hard hat is customized and/or modified to support a wide variety of accessories that are securely and releasably attached to mounting and/or auxiliary ridges without destructive alterations to the hard hat. Brackets couple to mounts and clips couple to ports to secure and/or lock various accessories in place during operation and prevent accidental knocks or jarring the accessory loose.

Abstract: A universal mounting system for a hard hat is provided that includes front and rear mounting locations and auxiliary ridges on either side. A visor is coupled to the hard hat mounting system in such a way as to provide access with minimal interference from the visor to the equipment attached to the mounting locations and ports in the auxiliary ridges. Various embodiments of visors enable modular designs that incorporate different materials and features of the visor. Parallel stretch zones enable folding and holding opposite brims of the visor. Enclosed elastic areas along the inner sides of visor provide user access to auxiliary ridges. Combinations of various accessories on hard hat and how the accessories work together on the universal mounting system are discussed: such as the interaction between visors, earmuffs, face shields, and lamps.

Various embodiments of safety headwear accessories, such as a brim guard, are adjustable to couple to various configurations of safety headwear. The brim guard includes a mechanism to detachably couple accessories, such as a face shield, to the safety headwear.
