  • Patent number: 11849969
Abstract: A surgical access device includes a cannula and a seal housing. The cannula has a cannula housing and a tubular member that extends from the cannula housing. The seal housing is coupled to the cannula housing. The seal housing has a base and a cover with an instrument seal located between the base and the cover. The cover has an upper cover portion and a lower cover portion with a port extending from the upper cover portion. The port is connectable to a source of vacuum. A chamber with projections and windows is defined in the upper cover portion and is configured to direct fluid towards the port.

  • Publication number: 20230181174
Abstract: A specimen retrieval device for laparoscopic procedures includes a plurality of barbed threads, the barbed threads having an elongate body, a distal portion, a proximal portion, and barbs extending from the elongate body. The distal portions of the barbed threads are circumferentially affixed to a centering ring and a space is formed within a circumference of the barbed threads. A tissue specimen to be removed from a patient is placed within the space and the proximal portions of the barbed threads are pulled in a proximal direction to reduce the volume of the space within which the tissue specimen has been placed, so that the barbed threads come into contact with the tissue specimen, thereby securing the tissue specimen within the space. The specimen retrieval device may then be removed from the patient's body cavity.

  • Publication number: 20220249118
Abstract: An end effector for a surgical device includes first and second jaws disposed adjacent one another. An actuator clevis is configured to couple to proximal ends of the first and second jaws in a distal portion of the actuator clevis. A jaw clevis defines a lumen and is configured to receive the first and second jaws and the actuator clevis in the lumen. The first and second jaws and the actuator clevis are configured to be transitionable along a longitudinal axis of the lumen. The first and second jaws are pivotably coupled to each other at proximal ends thereof and slidably coupled to the jaw clevis at a location distal of the proximal ends.

  • Publication number: 20220192693
Abstract: A tissue cutting device has a blade that pivots to pierce through tissue and translates to cut tissue, thereby providing a clean and smooth cut through tissue. The blade is coupled to an axial rod. Axial displacement of the axial rod pivots the blade and imparts axial displacement to the blade.
