  • Patent number: 6374086
Abstract: The output of a fixed frequency local oscillator is multiplied in frequency by a frequency multiplier and used in the mixer of the first down-conversion stage of a heterodyne receiver. Receiver channel selection and tuning takes place at IF by means of a PLL, the phase detector for the receiver PLL being used also as the phase detected for the transmitter tracking loop PLL. The multiplied local oscillator output is also used in the mixer of the transmitter tracking loop.

  • Patent number: 6267201
Abstract: A method of performing roof construction work on a roof with inclined rafters using a work platform which includes a structural frame (10), an upper work surface (15) having multiple removable sections (16) mounted by the frame on which a worker can move about on the platform. A safety barrier (20) extends around the periphery of the upper work surface. Mounting feet (30) secured to the frame are located at predetermined positions enabling the feet to rest on the rafters and releasable fastening means (31, 41) are associated with the feet to secure the platform in position for work on the roof structure. The mounting feet (30) include abutment feet (40) which rest on the rafters of the roof structure and which are clamped to the rafters. At least one mounting foot (30) comprises a fixable mounting foot (31) which can be releasably fastened to the roof structure to prevent lifting movement, longitudinal sliding movement, and lateral displacement of the work platform relative to the associated rafter.

  • Publication number: 20010005850
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for scrolling database records, particularly in a client-server computing system, are disclosed. A database (104) holds records, accessible by a server (102), that each include a unique identifier. A client (100) requests the server (102) to retrieve a set of database records. Records are retrieved from the database (104) and stored on the server (102) The server determines an upper context token and a lower context token corresponding to the end records for a subset of those records. The upper and lower context tokens include a reference to the respective unique identifier. The first subset records is passed to the client for display. The client then makes a scrolling request by a previous or next subset of data, and passes the relevant upper or lower context token to the server.

  • Publication number: 20010003192
Abstract: Methods and apparatus at servicing-linked applications in a client-server environment are disclosed. A client 20 is in communication with a server 30, and both are running a main application (in one form a goods and services ordering application). An associated application (for example, On-Line Help) is supported by a second server 30′. When OLH is invoiced on the client 20, a unique identifier is passed to the main application server 30, which locates a corresponding URL string and passes the string to a browser 130 on the client 20. The browser 130 passes the URL to the OHL server 30′ where the respective OLH document is retrieved from a datastore 40, and returned to the client 20 for display on the screen 100.

  • Patent number: 6208850
Abstract: A tunable voltage controlled bandpass filter for a direct conversion receiver. A phase locked loop uses the phase change imparted by the bandpass filter to local oscillator breakthrough from the mixer for a measure of frequency difference between input RF and local oscillator output. An error voltage derived from the measured phase change is applied as a tuning control to the bandpass filter. A sample and hold arrangement allows disconnection of the tuning circuit for power saving. The filter is suitable for implementation as an integral part of an ASIC receiver.

  • Patent number: 6169447
Abstract: A calibrator for stabilization of a passband active filter firstly sets a low level of filter supply current to assure filter stability while the filter is tuned to the required passband. The supply current is then gradually increased until the filter becomes unstable. The supply current level is held constant when filter instability is detected and the current is then reduced by a pre-determined amount to maintain stability of the filter. Re-tuning of the filter may then proceed without risk of instability. May be used as part of a phase locked loop for operating channel selection in a radio.
