  • Publication number: 20250101810
Abstract: A bottom hole assembly can include a cable head configured to connect the bottom hole assembly to a cable in a coiled tubing, an electrical orienter to rotate multiple sensor packages downhole, and multiple conductors extending between the cable head and the sensor packages via the electrical orienter. A method can include connecting a bottom hole assembly to a coiled tubing, the bottom hole assembly comprising an electrical orienter, a sensor package including ranging equipment, a fluid motor and a drill bit, deploying the coiled tubing and the bottom hole assembly into the well, activating the electrical orienter to rotate the ranging equipment, and then drilling an offset wellbore toward a target wellbore located using the ranging equipment. An electrical orienter can include an electric motor, a flow path extending completely longitudinally through the electrical orienter, and multiple conductors extending completely longitudinally through the electrical orienter.

  • Publication number: 20250101720
Abstract: A method of increasing production from at least one target wellbore can include drilling at least one offset wellbore having at least one horizontal portion in at least one aquifer, and intersecting the target wellbore with the offset wellbore. A water well system for improved production from at least one target wellbore can include at least one offset wellbore, the offset wellbore including at least one horizontal portion positioned in at least one aquifer, and at least one intersection between the offset wellbore and the target wellbore. Ranging equipment in the target and/or offset wellbore may be used to steer a coiled tubing drilling BHA in the offset wellbore toward the target wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20250101809
Abstract: A system can include a tubular string with a drilling bottom hole assembly connected at a distal end of a coiled tubing including a communication line permitting communication between surface instrumentation and the drilling bottom hole assembly, and the drilling bottom hole assembly including an orienter and ranging equipment. The tubular string is positioned in an intercept wellbore which intersects a target wellbore downhole of an obstruction that prevents access to the target wellbore downhole of the obstruction. A method can include drilling an intercept wellbore outward from an original wellbore, after an obstruction is introduced between the original wellbore and a target wellbore, and intersecting the target wellbore with the intercept wellbore, so that fluid communication is provided between the intercept and target wellbores.

  • Patent number: 10294777
Abstract: A steering tool system may provide a bottom hole assembly (BHA) and a surface control/interface (SCI). The steering tool may provide an improved electronic schematic that provides a data line that is separate from the power line. The BHA may provide a full bore flow path. The connectors of a cablehead section may be designed to ease make up with proper contact to the connectors. The BHA may also be suitable for pumping a ball to a hydraulic disconnect. The design of the system allows conductors to pass through the hydraulic disconnect and orienter control section.
