  • Patent number: 5272839
Abstract: A pivotable glazing structure for covering an opening comprising sheets forming sections. Each sheet having a bottom edge and a top edge and each sheet is supported by its tip or bottom edge to a first bearing rail mounted on a structure and an opposite edge is supported at one supporting point to a second bearing rail mounted on a structure. The sheets can be individually moved to an edge of the opening covered by the sheets on sheet supporting points and pivoted through 90 degrees on first sheet hinge pines which are positioned at supporting points in alignment with each other so as to expose an outwardfacing surface of the sheet. A second hinge pin of the sheet is provided with a latch for locking the second hinge pin in position as the sheet is being pivoted on hinge pins. The latch comprises a jutting member made of a flexible material and the jutting member is adapted to engage with a toothed portion attached to or formed integrally with the bearing rail.

  • Patent number: 5088236
Abstract: The invention relates to a pivotable glazing for a balcony. There are previously known balcony glazings which comprise four or more panes which move in an overlapping manner on two adjacent tracks. Such a structure requires considerable sealing and frame structures which detract from the outer appearance of the building. Furthermore, the balcony aperture can be opened at maximum 50%, and it is difficult to wash the outer surfaces of the panes. According to the present invention, these disadvantages are eliminated by fitting all the panes of glass adjacently in the same double-rail track. At the upper edge of each movable glass pane (1) there are two slides (3, 4), of which one moves on a straight outer rail and the other on an inner rail, which curves inwards and towards the side wall (13) of the balcony. Within the curved portion (18) of the inner rail the trailing edge of the pane turns inwards and the pane can be opened against the side wall (13) of the balcony.

  • Patent number: 4562668
Abstract: The present invention relates to a window structure comprising a frame capable of being secured to a window opening, and hinges and latches fitted in the frame. The frame is preferably made up of an aluminum profile having the same cross section all around the frame. A substantial part of the profile consists of the interior part which receives the pane and has the shape of an open tube. Both the hinge and the latch are fitted in the open tube, to which they attach rotatably without any furniture or other fastening means. Both the hinges and the latches can be simply pressed into the open tube and be removed from it without dismantling the window structure in any way. Owing to the symmetry of the window structure the left- or right-handedness of the window can be determined as late as at the installation stage. The invention also relates to a hinge and a latch functioning in an open-tube-shaped frame structure.
