  • Publication number: 20060025907
Abstract: A vehicle information system including a computing system, a vehicle application, an access-layer application, a vehicle-application database, and a communication adapter is provided. The computing system may run an operating system and a plurality of applications. The vehicle application, which is executable by the computing system, may provide policy processing of a parameter received from the access-layer application. The access-layer application has a first interface adapted to communicate with the vehicle application and a second interface adapted to communicate with the operating system. The vehicle-application database may house information for processing the parameter. The communication adapter may pass the at least one parameter between the second interface and the vehicle controller.

  • Publication number: 20050203673
Abstract: A system and method for effectuating messaging between a first unit and a target unit by using a communication framework and one or more transport modules is provided. The system may include at least one application program operable to originate to and terminate electronic messages from a target unit. The transport modules provided for exchanging with the target unit the electronic messages that are originated to and terminated from the at least one application program. The at least one transport module is adapted to provide connectivity to the target unit via at least one of a plurality of networks. The communication framework adapted to select one or more of the transport modules based on dynamic-delivery policies, and in turn, to pass between the selected transport modules and the application program the electronic messages originated to and terminated from the target unit.

  • Publication number: 20050065678
Abstract: An enterprise-resource planning (ERP) system in which information processing and data management may be integrated or otherwise combined with a vehicle-diagnostic-and-information system is provided. The ERP system includes a first device for obtaining vehicle characteristic information from a vehicle, and a second device for integrating the vehicle characteristic information into an information management system. The first device is adapted to send the vehicle characteristic information over a communication link. The second device is adapted to receive from the first device over the communication link the vehicle characteristic information. When the second device integrates the vehicle diagnostic information into the information management system, the first and second devices are operable to function as the ERP system.

  • Publication number: 20050060070
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product is provided for remote vehicle diagnostics, telematics, monitoring, configuring, and reprogramming. The system includes an on-board unit disposed on at least one vehicle, an application-service-provider infrastructure, and an interface. The on-board unit is operable to send and receive data corresponding to at least one vehicle operating characteristic. Located on the application-service-provider infrastructure is an application suite. The application suite includes at least one modular application each of which has an associated function that processes said data obtained via the on-board unit. The interface is operable to select from the application suite at least one of the modular applications that will use the associated function to diagnose, monitor, configure, reprogram, and/or obtain telematic information from the at least one vehicle.
