  • Patent number: 7289806
Abstract: Techniques and structures are disclosed for allowing context-based searches to be performed from a wireless device. In at least one embodiment, a wireless device may append context-specific information, collected by at least one local sensor to a network search query to be delivered to a remote search engine when a network search is being performed. The wireless device may then receive search results from the remote search engine in response to the network search query that identify the elements of appended context-specific information that were used to perform the network search. The wireless device may then display these search results to a user.

  • Patent number: 7222175
Abstract: A method is described for adaptive load-balancing and graceful termination of access points in a network having a plurality of access points. The method includes determining a need to reduce a load of a first access point, and increasing a beacon interval corresponding to the first access point in order to detract clients. Correspondingly, beacon intervals for other access points may be reduced in order to attract more clients.

  • Patent number: 6775539
Abstract: An intelligent, non-intrusive, adaptive wireless discount coupon delivery system over General Packet Radio Service (“GPRS”) bearer service. The system generates and delivers electronic coupons to subscribers' GPRS mobile stations from business entities in the subscribers' vicinity. The system bases its delivery on the subscribers' profiles stored in their mobile phones, which may include their cellular location and their shopping histories. The main components of the system include: a GPRS mobile station, a base station, a mobile-switching center (“MSC”), a serving GPRS service node (“SGSN”), a coupon generating server (“CGS”), an offer generating server (“OGS”), and store pricing databases. The system increases the facility and trustworthiness of wireless coupon delivery by isolating subscriber profile information from stores' pricing databases.

  • Patent number: 6671334
Abstract: A measurement receiver demodulator has a first processing channel for producing a filtered signal sample output where the signal samples are processed through a transmission system receiver filter and a second processing channel producing an unfiltered signal sample output where the signal samples are not processed through the transmission system receiver filter. The first processing channel down converts digitally modulated IF signal samples and filters the down converted signal samples using a combined transmission system receiver filter and front end hardware compensation filter. A synchronizer produces timing phase and rate offset parameters that are applied to a resampling filter to synchronize the filtered signal samples to symbol instances of the symbol modulation. The filtered, time-aligned signal samples are scaled using a derived scaling factor. A pilot offset level, if present, is estimated and removed.

  • Publication number: 20030187990
Abstract: A method is described for maintaining a seamless communication session while switching devices. A user requests a communication session with a colleague device. The request for a communication session triggers a communication server to establish a first connection with the first device, and a second connection with the colleague device. When the user requests a switch from the first communication device to a second communication device, the request triggers the communication server to verify that the user of the second communication device is the same as the user of the first communication device. If the users are the same, then the communication server establishes a third connection with the second communication device, and then terminates the first connection with the first communication device. The second connection between the communication server and the colleague device is maintained such that entire process is transparent to the colleague.
