Patent number: 9508202Abstract: Tracking intrinsic and extrinsic vehicle parameters for optimizing vehicle performance is presented herein. A method can include consolidating sets of data associated with a vehicle to generate a model; generating, using the model, recommendation data representing a recommendation associated with an operation of the vehicle; and in response to receiving a request from a device of the vehicle corresponding to the operation of the vehicle, sending, based on the request, a message comprising the recommendation directed to the device of the vehicle. In an example, the method can further include determining, based on crowdsourced data representing the characteristic of the element of the vehicle, whether the characteristic satisfies a defined condition with respect to the operation of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2015Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Nikhil S. Patent number: 9451434Abstract: A mechanism is provided for direct interaction between an individual and a communication network. Captured data is received of the individual in an environment to be analyzed by a network management computer. The data is captured by network sensors. The network management computer determines that the individual is a subscriber to services of the communication network by identifying the subscriber from the data that has been captured. The subscriber is registered with a network carrier that operates and provides the services on the communication network. The data is obtained without assistance from a subscriber owned device providing the data. The data is analyzed to interpret commands when presented by the subscriber via the network sensors. The commands include gesture commands from the subscriber. An action is performed for the subscriber based on the commands.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2013Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.Inventors: Christopher Baldwin, Bruce Barnes, Wayne R. Heinmiller, Patrick Kenny, Shadi Khoshaba, Dolores J. Mallian, Nikhil S. Marathe, Charles M. Stahulak, Michael Towster

Patent number: 9419733Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for effective broadcasting of emergency messages. An emergency indicator that indicates that an emergency condition exists can be received. A geographic area affected by the emergency condition can be determined and a plurality of devices and a user device located at the geographic area can be identified. The user device can be selected to broadcast an alert to the plurality of devices, and an alert trigger can be sent to the user device. The alert trigger can cause the user device to activate a wireless hotspot at the user device, the wireless hotspot being associated with a dedicated service set identifier, and to broadcast, via the wireless hotspot, an alert indicating the emergency condition.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2013Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Nikhil S. Marathe, Christopher Baldwin, Michael Towster

Publication number: 20160193934Abstract: Methods, systems, and products charge a battery in a vehicle. A charging station and the vehicle negotiate charging parameters. When the vehicle receives electrical power from the charging station, the vehicle checks the electrical power for the parameters. Should the electrical power fail to exhibit the parameters, charging is terminated.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2016Publication date: July 7, 2016Inventors: Nikhil S. Marathe, CHRISTOPHER F. BALDWIN

Patent number: 9317846Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to using a remote scanner for mobile transactions. A point of sale (POS) terminal communicates with a remote scanner that is removably coupled to the POS terminal. Logic on the POS terminal generates a request for a transaction information and transmits the request along with a restriction to the remote scanner. Logic on the remote scanner receives the request and the restriction, transmits the request to a mobile device, receives the transaction information while monitoring the restriction, and transmits the transaction information to the POS terminal for processing. The transaction information may be provided subject to the restriction.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2015Date of Patent: April 19, 2016Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Christopher F. Patent number: 9280772Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to an NFC-enabled security token that is removably coupled to a mobile device. The security token may be provisioned with the information by the mobile device, then decoupled from the mobile device and used to authenticate the user or perform a transaction at a POS terminal equipped with an NFC reader. The security token includes logic for user-controlled restrictions on allowable purchases, such as payment limits, timeouts, vendor identifiers, allowed purchases, and location-based restrictions. The security token is further equipped with “self-destruct” security features, such as deactivating itself or erasing any sensitive information upon being unable to contact the mobile device for a specified duration, or being subject to an unauthorized or restricted transaction, until such time as it is re-coupled to the mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2014Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Christopher F. Publication number: 20150312837Abstract: Wireless communication via a mesh network of connected movable objects is described. A method includes determining, by a device including a processor, a value of a characteristic of a first movable object of movable objects communicatively coupled to a wireless network, wherein the movable objects are automated vehicles, and wherein the determining the value is based on a likelihood of receipt of a message transmitted from the first movable object to a second movable object of the movable objects. The method also includes generating information usable to move the first movable object in a manner that satisfies a defined condition associated with the value. The information can be strength of a wireless communication channel between the first movable object and a second movable object of the movable objects.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2014Publication date: October 29, 2015Applicant: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Christopher Baldwin, Nikhil S. Publication number: 20150127496Abstract: The location of a container and the location of a storage device that stores a particular item are determined. A determination is made that the particular item is placed in the container. The locations of the particular item and the container are tracked as the container moves through a premises. For a purchase-related transaction, a determination is made whether the location of the particular item corresponds to the location of the container. If the location of the particular item corresponds to the location of the container, a cost for the particular item is included in the purchase-related transaction. If not, the cost for the particular item is not included in the purchase-related transaction, and the location of the particular item is accounted for.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2013Publication date: May 7, 2015Applicant: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Nikhil S. Publication number: 20150087258Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for a remotely activated monitoring service. The monitoring service can be executed by a server computer. The server computer can detect an event associated with a user device. The server computer can determine that monitoring of a proximity of the user device is to be initiated based upon the event. The server computer can determine a geographic location of the user device and identify monitoring hardware that is to monitor the proximity of the user device. The server device also can issue a command to the monitoring hardware to initiate monitoring of the proximity of the user device by the monitoring hardware.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2013Publication date: March 26, 2015Applicant: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Bruce Barnes, Christopher Baldwin, Wayne Robert Heinmiller, Patrick Kenny, Susan Kenny, Dolores J. Patent number: 8931695Abstract: A voting server receives votes from a multimedia processing resource (MPR) and executes instructions for determining whether a user location is an approved voting location and determining whether an MPR communication path is an approved path. If the user location is an approved voting location and the MPR communication path is an approved path, ballot data is accessed, a ballot based on the ballot data is presented to a user, and user input is accepted to select an element from the ballot.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2008Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Bruce Barnes, Wayne Robert Heinmiller, Nikhil S.
