  • Patent number: 8074623
Abstract: Method for adjusting the air-fuel ratio of an internal combustion engine, in a fuel supply section thereof, such as a carburettor or a fuel-injection system, the fuel supply section having a control unit for adjusting the air-fuel ratio of the engine, and the engine having an engine speed and an engine throttle ranging from zero throttle to full throttle. The method including: a) measuring the engine speed of the engine; b) comparing the engine speed to a first engine speed value; c) adjusting the air fuel ratio if the engine speed is lower than the first engine speed value; and d) repeating a) to c) until the engine speed is either greater than or equal to the first engine speed value.

  • Patent number: 7080620
Abstract: An internal combustion engine including structure for lubricating at least one bearing disposed therein. The engine includes an engine housing including a cylinder with a reciprocating piston of the engine and a crankcase volume with a crankshaft having the at least one bearing operatively connected thereto, wherein the crankcase volume contains at least air and a lubricant. Additionally, the engine includes a counterweight arrangement that provides an essentially solid circular profile, at least one passageway on the counterweight arrangement extending to a location adjacent to the engine housing, and at least one passageway extending through the engine housing from a location adjacent to the counterweight to the at least one bearing, wherein the two passageways are selectably aligned by movement of the piston to cause a lubricating flow between the at least one bearing and the crankcase volume.

  • Patent number: 6314734
Abstract: Internal combustion engine with as exhaust pressure regulator (10) arranged in an exhaust conduit (5) for regulating the exhaust counter-pressure in the engine cylinders. Upstream of the exhaust pressure regulator, the exhaust conduit communicates via valve means (17) with the intake side of an air compressor (14) to make possible pre-charging of the compressor during engine braking.

  • Patent number: 6273033
Abstract: An internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle with a coolant system, includes a cab heater (23) and a cooling element (21) for cooling exhaust recirculating to the inlet side of the engine (1). The cooling element has a coolant outlet (26), which communicates with the coolant inlet (22) of the cab heater to quickly heat the cab heater with the aid of the exhaust when the engine is cold-started.

  • Patent number: 5890359
Abstract: A method and a device for reducing NO.sub.x emissions from a diesel engine is disclosed. The engine has an inlet system for introducing air into the engine, an exhaust system for exhausting gases from the engine and a branch conduit connecting the exhaust system with the inlet system to permit recirculation of a portion of exhaust gases. A flow control valve is provided which is associated with the branch conduit for regulating the portion of exhaust gases flowing through the branch conduit. The engine further includes control means responsive to particular engine parameters. The control means is employed to effect regulation of the flow control valve based on values of the engine parameters. The control means determine when the engine is running below a predetermined maximum speed, and opens the flow control valve only when the engine is running below the predetermined maximum speed.
