  • Patent number: 10631228
Abstract: A method for executing or adapting a forwarding strategy in a vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) includes performing, by a first vehicle being a node in the VANET, the following actions: analyzing current environmental conditions; creating a forwarding strategy based on the current environmental conditions; and forwarding information to other vehicles in the VANET according to the created forwarding strategy.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 12, 2017
Date of Patent: April 21, 2020
    Assignee: NEC CORPORATION
Inventors: Pedro Miranda d'Orey, Nitin Maslekar, Nikola Zahariev
  • Patent number: 10044589
Abstract: A method for supporting vehicular communication in a cellular-based communication system includes connecting at least one base station and a plurality of vehicles equipped with mobile communication devices. A centralized control entity coordinates packet transmissions of the vehicles. Adjustment of a packet transmission rate is done recursively, where parameters of packet transmission characteristics are measured and the control entity determines, based on the parameters of packet transmission characteristics, an optimal packet transmission rate. The vehicles and/or the control entity transmit packets use the optimal packet transmission rate.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 7, 2018
    Assignee: NEC CORPORATION

  • Patent number: 9832706
Abstract: A method for information dissemination in a multi-technology communication network wherein network nodes are equipped with first communication means for operating via a long range communication network and with second communication means for performing short-range communication includes performing, by a central entity, the steps of determining coverage areas of the network nodes; establishing dissimilarity relations between network nodes with respect to the coverage areas of the network nodes such that a dissimilarity relation index value is larger for two network nodes covering less similar areas; and selecting, subject to configurable constraints, network nodes with a highest dissimilarity relation index value as mobile infrastructure nodes that are intended to act as relay and/or forwarder nodes for supporting optimal information penetration in a given destination dissemination area.
