  • Patent number: 9634156
Abstract: A silicon photomultiplier device is provided. The device comprises a plurality of photosensitive cells each having a photo-detector, a quench resistive load and a first stage capacitive load. The device is arranged in a three electrode connection configuration comprising first and second electrodes arranged to operably provide a biasing of the device and a third electrode operably used to readout a signal from the device. A second stage capacitive load is operably coupled to two or more photosensitive cells.

  • Patent number: 9282283
Abstract: A user terminal comprising: a network interface; a touchscreen configured to receive a pattern traced by a user; a first camera configured to capture images, wherein the user terminal is configured to transmit said captured images from the first camera to at least one further user terminal via the network interface as part of a video call; a second camera; a memory configured to store information relating to at least one pattern; a detection module configured to detect, using said stored information, one of said at least one pattern traced on an area of the touchscreen of said user terminal; and a control module configured to, in response to the detection by the detection module, switch from the first camera to the second camera so as to capture images using the second camera, the control module causing the said captured images from the second camera to be transmitted via the network interface to said at least one further user device.

  • Publication number: 20130153774
Abstract: A pixellated scintillator readout arrangement is presented, the arrangement comprising a plurality of scintillator pixels arranged in a scintillator array, and a plurality of photodetectors arranged to receive light from, or address, the scintillator pixels. The photodetectors may be arranged on both a first side and a second side of the scintillator array. Each photodetector may be arranged to leave a gap adjacent to the scintillator pixel which is addressed by that photodetector. Non-photosensitive elements such as tracking and bondpads may be arranged in at least some of the gaps. Electronic components such as electronic amplifiers may be arranged in at least some of the gaps. The photodetectors may be arranged in linear arrays addressing alternate lines of scintillator pixels on either side of the scintillator array. Each photodetector may be arranged to address a single pixel (as illustrated) or more than one pixel (not shown).

  • Patent number: 7737876
Abstract: In a holographic surveillance system (10) for near real-time imaging of a target (15), a source of RF radiation directs a non-amplified reference beam of pulsed coherent RF electromagnetic radiation toward a target. An array of antennas (31) receives a reflected beam from the target together with a component of the reference beam so as to produce a signal representative of phase and amplitude data of received energy, and a processor (20) processes the signals so as to produce a holographic image for display on a display device coupled to the processor.
