Patent number: 11787221Abstract: A writing instrument according to the present disclosure comprises a main body, a writing tip and a cap, wherein the cap is designed to be secured tightly on the main body such that the writing tip is covered by the cap. The cap comprises of an inner core and an outer layer, wherein a material of the outer layer is softer compared to a material of the inner core. With that, it is possible to design an air-tight (or almost air-tight) fitting cap for a writing instrument. With the softer outer layer of the cap, it is achieved that a user chewing on the cap has a reduced risk of damaging his/her teeth. In addition, although a membrane within the cap may still be present, such membrane is no longer necessary. The membrane may be an additional barrier contributing further to the air-tight effect of the cap that is present within the cap.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2021Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignees: Soceté BIC, BIC Violex Single Member S.A.Inventors: Eirini Petratou, Nikolaos Chatzigrigoriou

Publication number: 20230143109Abstract: A coupling mechanism 10 comprising a first coupling element 20 having a first engagement surface 34 configured to pivot about a pivot axis located external to the coupling mechanism, a second coupling element 40 including a second engagement surface 52 configured to come into contact with the one or more first engagement surface, the second coupling element being capable of moving from a first position to a second position and from the second position to the first position, a third coupling element 60 configured to support the first coupling element and the second coupling element, a stop 58 positioned inwardly of the first coupling element configured to impede pivoting of the first coupling element. The stop impedes pivoting of the first coupling element when the second coupling element is in the first position and the stop no longer impedes movement of the first coupling element when the second coupling element is in the second position.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 23, 2021Publication date: May 11, 2023Applicant: BIC Violex Single Member S.A.Inventors: Panagiotis KOPELAS, Dimitrios EFTHIMIADIS, Nikolaos CHATZIGRIGORIOU
