  • Publication number: 20120215598
Abstract: A method or system for marketing and selling contributed resources of a plurality of separate electronic devices by generating a framework for resource contribution. The assigned contributed resources are the contributed resources that are assigned to credit categories. A credit category model is optimized based the assigned contributed resources using a dynamic availability of the assigned contributed resources and a processing requirement of a task. Resource contributions are tracked based on completed task segments, wherein the completed task segments are distributed task segments derived from the task that have been processed by the assigned contributed resources. And an account is credited based on the tracked resource contribution.

  • Publication number: 20120195432
Abstract: A system and method for effectively supporting data transfer procedures includes a source device that registers with an account server to participate in a data backup service. The source device then encrypts and stores user data onto a datacenter. The source device later may request a data transfer task from a vendor. The datacenter responsively transfers the encrypted user data to a vendor server, and an escrow server generates and sends a temporary key to the vendor server. A destination device may then utilize the temporary key to decrypt and securely store the user data onto the destination device.

  • Publication number: 20120151491
Abstract: A method or system for redistributing incomplete segments for processing tasks by generating a model based on resources of a plurality of separate electronic devices; simulating an assessment task to determine a computation time for the assessment task according to the model; updating the model to optimize the computation time based on a dynamic availability of the resources and a processing requirement of a live task; distributing task segments for processing the live task based on the updated model; and dynamically redistributing incomplete segments for processing the live task by further updating the model based on the dynamic availability of the resources.

  • Patent number: 8199776
Abstract: A system for supporting a burst transmission procedure includes a burst manager that divides a selected content item into individual content segments. A transmitter then transmits the content segments in a substantially concurrent manner over different corresponding transmission channels. One or more electronic devices receives and stores the transmitted content segments. A content manager of the electronic device performs a reassembly procedure to convert the content segments into the originally-transmitted content item for utilization by a device user.

  • Publication number: 20120121007
Abstract: A system and method for effectively transferring electronic information includes a transmitter with an encoder that performs a parity encoding procedure. The encoder creates parity blocks for embedding in transmission packets. The parity blocks may be based upon data segments from one or more of the transmission packets. The system also includes a receiver with a decoder that utilizes the parity blocks for performing a packet validation procedure to identify corrupted packets from among the transmission packets. The decoder also performs a packet reconstruction procedure with selected ones of the data segments and the parity blocks to produce reconstructed data segments for the corrupted packets.

  • Patent number: 8098297
Abstract: A camera system includes an image sensor and a processing apparatus receiving image frames from the sensor before and after receipt of a user picture signal. The processing apparatus discards frames that do not meet a quality criterion such as under-exposed frames. Also, the processing apparatus compresses only a subset of remaining frames, specifically, those that meet a compression amount threshold. The remaining frames are presented to a user, who can select a representative frame as the “picture” that was taken.

  • Publication number: 20110292220
Abstract: Images from the video camera of a computer are compared over time, e.g., every few milliseconds, to determine from the pixel data if motion of the computer matches template motion associated with an earthquake P-wave. If so, a warning is generated, uploaded to a communication network, and propagated over the network to other computers.
