Abstract: Acoustic sensing devices, systems and methods are provided for monitoring emissions from machinery. Representative is an acoustic sensing device for transmitting to a measuring instrumentation detection signals indicative of sound wave levels from the machinery. A housing assembly is constructed for removable attachment between a surface mounting region of the machinery and the measuring instrument to define a coupled state. An acoustic emissions (AE) sensor is located in the housing assembly's interior and detects sound waves propagating through the surface mounting region to produce detection signals for processing. A mounting adapter may be employed to interface the housing assembly to the machinery's surface mounting region.

Abstract: Provided is a method of monitoring a device to ascertain leakage of the gas there from. An area in the vicinity of the gas is illuminated with ultraviolet light, thereby causing the gas or its residue to fluoresce. A gas sensor is exposed to the gas whereby it generates the gas detection input signal, which is then processed to produce at least one output signal in response thereto.

Abstract: A leak detection instrument may comprise a housing, a gas sensor supported relative to the housing, an AE sensor for generating a sound detection input signal upon exposure to gas leakage, processing circuitry for producing output signals, and an output device. The AE sensor may include an elongated mounting member, an AE sensor housing supported by the mounting member, and an AE sensor disposed therein. Improvements to leak detection instruments, an AE sensor mounting assembly and a method of monitoring a device to ascertain leakage of a target gas therefrom are also provided.
