    Abstract: A system for open space data communication comprising a transmitting device and an optical receiver using multiple varying levels of emitted radiation output. The transmitting device includes multiple emitter groups that are capable of being switched on and off and each of which can be activated in parallel to emit fixed, varying radiation outputs. The transmitter and the receiver are directed onto at least one common surface, which reflects the light emitted from the transmitter before it reaches the receiver. The free space communications system is cellular and includes several cells, each of which has a transmitter and at least one corresponding receiver. The cells are configured in such a way that crosstalk with a respective adjoining cell is prevented. The cells are thus independent of one another.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a diode-pumped solid-state ring laser gyroscope consisting of a diode-pumped solid-state laser made from a doped crystal or glass in the form of a square or cube for monoaxial or triaxial measurements; limitation and stabilization of the laser mode is achieved by precise matching of the pumping radiation to the mode volume of the ring laser. Outcoupling of the laser radiation is done by making the light tunnel through a slit to a dielectric plate which is moved by an actuator. Frequency modulation of the signal is done as required by coupling an acoustic wave into the laser medium or by precise spatial modulation of the diode excitation.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a laser diode-pumped solid-state laser resonator which can be scaled and pumped longitudinally including in a folded or zig-zag resonator cavity. The resonator employs opposed laser rod crystals paired with pump light diodes in a configuration which ensures good spatial overlap and can permit the simultaneous generation of one or more laser wavelengths. The resonator also has at one end thereof a total reflector, eg. a laser rod crystal or a mirror and at the other end thereof, a partial reflector i.e. a mirror, to resonate and amplify the laser beam in the system and outcouple a portion thereof as desired.
