Patent number: 10831946Abstract: A multi-configuration massive model system. The system comprises a processor unit and a comparator configured to run on the processor unit, a memory, and a configuration manager. The comparator compares sets of parts for two or more configurations of a vehicle to form a list comprising a group of common parts and a group of unique parts. The memory is configured to store a massive model dataset of the configurations of the vehicle with a list of the group of common parts and the group of unique parts for the configurations of the vehicle. The configuration manager, configured to run on the processor unit, receives input of a selected configuration and performs an action relating to the vehicle using the massive model dataset for the selected configuration of the vehicle with the list of the group of common parts and the groups of unique parts stored in the memory.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2017Date of Patent: November 10, 2020Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: James J. Patent number: 10331295Abstract: A computer-implemented method for visualizing data about an object. A hierarchy of image blocks is generated using an action scheme and a part. Instructions identifying a hierarchy of image blocks and the action scheme are generated. The hierarchy of image blocks is communicated to a graphical user interface. An image area is identified in an image block in the hierarchy of image blocks in the graphical user interface. A query is generated to identify a location of the part within the object. The query is based on a type of search, a spatial region, and the action scheme. An indicator representing the location of the part identified by the query is displayed.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2016Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Nikoli E. Patent number: 10289263Abstract: A method is provided that includes rendering for display, a digital three-dimensional (3D) model of a structural product composed of a plurality of parts, with the digital 3D model being observed from a home viewpoint. Input is received to navigate the digital 3D model to a part of the plurality of parts, observation of the digital 3D model being moved from the home viewpoint to a navigated viewpoint. A digital label is generated that includes information specifying the navigated viewpoint and includes information for the part. The digital label may be output to a label recorder configured to record the digital label on a physical medium and thereby produce a corresponding physical label. At least the navigated viewpoint of the digital 3D model in the digital label and corresponding physical label are in a machine-readable format and capable of being machine-read to automatically restore the digital 3D model at the navigated viewpoint.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2016Date of Patent: May 14, 2019Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: James J. Publication number: 20180300326Abstract: A method and system for managing three-dimensional massive model visualization data sets. The method comprises compiling a vehicle list of vehicles for which the three-dimensional massive model visualization data sets are to be built. The method automatically builds the three-dimensional massive model visualization data sets for vehicles in the vehicle list using a computer system. The method stores the three-dimensional massive model visualization data sets in a group of repositories. The method distributes the three-dimensional massive model visualization data sets for displaying massive model visualizations for the vehicles using the three-dimensional massive model visualization data sets on client devices. The method may selectively update a three-dimensional massive model visualization data set in the three-dimensional massive model visualization data sets when the three-dimensional massive model visualization data set is out-of-date.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 17, 2017Publication date: October 18, 2018Inventors: James J. Patent number: 9870444Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing shop order instances for an aircraft. A model of the aircraft is identified. The shop order instances for the aircraft are identified. A status of the shop order instances is identified. Graphical representations of parts for a group of shop order instances in a graphical user interface are displayed on a display device. A set of graphical indicators in association with the graphical representations of the parts displayed in the graphical user interface is displayed. The set of graphical indicators indicates the status of the shop order instances.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2013Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Assignee: THE BOEING COMPANYInventors: Christopher J. Publication number: 20140298216Abstract: A computer-implemented method for visualizing an object. Instructions identifying a hierarchy of image blocks and an action scheme are received. An image block in the hierarchy of image blocks is loaded to display an image corresponding to the image block to a user through a graphical user interface displayed on a display system. A number of image areas on the image are selectable. User input that selects an image area in the number of image areas is detected. Visualization information to be sent to a visualization system for use in visually presenting a portion of the data about the object of interest to the user through the graphical user interface is generated based on the image area selected.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 28, 2013Publication date: October 2, 2014Applicant: THE BOEING COMPANYInventors: Nikoli E.
