Abstract: A device for the cerclage of fractured bone as well as to a cerclage system using such device are provided. The cerclage device comprises a cerclage wire or thread and at least one spacer arranged on the cerclage wire or thread. The at least one spacer is made as a band having a substantially rectangular plan and a concave profile. Owing to the concave profile, the band can adapt to the surface of the fractured bone; in addition, the force exerted on the bone by the cerclage wire is advantageously distributed over the entire surface of the band. The cerclage device further comprises at least one safety thread which allows preventing the spacer from becoming lost in the patient's body in case the cerclage wire or thread tears off.

Abstract: An osteosynthesis plate for being used either in a static locking mode or in a dynamic locking mode is provided. The osteosynthesis plate comprises a flat, elongated body in which there are provided two or more slots intended to receive corresponding screws for securing the plate to a fractured bone, the slots and the screws being mutually cooperating for preventing the risk of misalignments when the plate is used in a dynamic locking mode. Retaining elements for the screws are provided in the slots, the elements preventing, either totally or selectively, a displacement of the screws within the slots. An osteosynthesis kit allowing to use the aforesaid plate as static osteosynthesis plate or as dynamic osteosynthesis plate, as needed, is also provided.

Abstract: An intramedullary pin (1) is provided. The intramedullary pin has a self-locking distal end that can be used for treating metadiaphyseal fractures of long bones such as the humerus. Locking of the distal end of the intramedullary pin (1) can take place in a controlled and gradual, and also reversible, manner. The structure of the intramedullary pin (1) further allows the use of a guide wire, whereby the pin can be inserted into the fractured bone with the aid of a guide wire.

Abstract: A plate for osteosynthesis, including a body of elongate form provided with a plurality of holes for the passage of corresponding screws for the fixing to a fractured bone. The body of elongate form includes a portion of reduced section defining a an intermediate point having an increased flexibility. The portion of reduced section coupled with a mobile portion of complementary shape acting from the exterior of the plate, to constrain the mobile portion to the body of the plate in order to decrease the flexibility of the intermediate point.

Abstract: An adjustable staple to be used in bone surgery, comprising a horizontally laying U-shaped member having upper and lower arms wherein the lower arm is movable parallel to itself, and relative to the upper arm, and with the upper arm being fixed, a connecting segment between the arms, including means facilitating relative movement between the arms and means facilitating fastening of the lower arm in any selected position along said movement, said means facilitating movement including a dovetail joint between a first portion of the connecting segment orthogonal to the upper arm and a second portion of the connecting segment orthogonal to the lower arm.
