  • Patent number: 4409524
Abstract: The invention relates to a control circuit for controlling the driving and braking current of a brushless type DC motor of the type having a permanent magnet rotor and a pair of poles provided with two windings, the windings having a common junction which is connectable to the positive terminal of a DC voltage source. The windings are double wound on the core of the motor stator and a pair of controllable switching elements are in respective series with the windings. A scanning commutating circuit responsive to the angular position of the rotor has dual outputs for switching the switching elements on and off in a push-pull mode. Free wheeling diodes are connected respectively to the junctions of the windings and the switching elements and first and second current measuring resistors are in respective series relation to the switching elements and the diodes.

  • Patent number: 4270076
Abstract: The invention relates to a brushless type DC motor assembly of the type having a permanent magnet rotor and a pair of poles provided with two windings, the windings having a common junction which is connectable to the positive terminal of a DC voltage source. A pair of controlled rectifiers in respective series with the windings are followed by a series branch having a smoothing choke and an electronic chopper switch, the series branch being connectable to the negative terminal of the DC voltage source. The invention is directed to an improved circuit permitting operation of the motor at higher power by providing an extinguishing circuit for the controlled rectifiers which includes a series arranged extinguishing capacitor and a swingover choke that connects the upstream sides of the controlled rectifiers. The extinguishing circuit also includes extinguishing diodes connected in antiparallel respectively to the rectifiers.

  • Patent number: 4270075
Abstract: The invention relates to a motor of the type energizable by a DC voltage and having at least two parallel stator winding branches with each branch having a stator winding in series with a controllable switching element. A demagnetization branch in parallel with each stator winding branch has an oppositely poled demagnetization winding inductively coupled to the associated stator winding and a series connected diode poled oppositely of the associated switching element. When one stator winding is switched off the voltage induced in the inductively coupled demagnetization winding produces a current which flows through the associated diode and the next simultaneously switched on stator winding. In this way the magnetic energy of the switched off stator winding is rapidly reduced and is utilized to supplement the magnetic field of the simultaneously switched on stator winding.

  • Patent number: 4167776
Abstract: The invention relates to an inverter circuit which includes at least one pair of series connected transistors. The transistors of each pair are switched alternately on and off with a short dead period therebetween to prevent short circuiting. Rapid switching is accompanied by power being converted in each transistor on being switched off which is harmful to the transistor. Known auxiliary circuits disposed respectively parallel with the transistors include capacitors to slow the rise of the collector voltage relative to the drop in emitter current and this provides some protection against damage. Additional protection is attained by providing a choke coil in series with each pair of transistors which retards the charging of the capacitors and the transistor charging current is thereby kept low to prevent or minimize transistor damage.

  • Patent number: 4145647
Abstract: The invention relates to a DC control circuit for controlling the speed and rotary direction of a three-phase asynchronous motor. The circuit has an inverter section having three branches with a pair of switch elements in series in each of the branches. The inverter section has a common extinguishing switch element in shunt with the three branches. A speed determining frequency generator is responsive to the voltage of the DC supply and an ignition signal generator for operating the inverter switch elements is driven by the frequency generator. An extinction signal generator for operating the common extinguishing switch element is also driven by the frequency generator. A reversing circuit section between the ignition signal generator and the inverter branches has two states for exchanging the control lines of the inverter switch elements in at least two of the branches.
