  • Patent number: 4536991
Abstract: A worktable comprises upper and lower members that fit together in sliding relation with a rectangular extension of the upper member protruding into a recess in the lower member. The recess is larger than the extension so as to permit the upper member to slide across the surface between the upper and lower members. Eight adjustment screws are mounted in opposing pairs in the lower member so that each pair bears on a different side of the extension. By backing off on some screws while advancing others, the upper member of the worktable may be moved with respect to the lower member to adjust the position of the workpiece with respect to the grinding wheel. The use of pairs of opposing adjustment screws permit both rectilinear movement of the upper member depending on the amount of advancement of each pair of screws and rotational movement when the screws in each pair are advanced by different amounts.

  • Patent number: 4138926
Abstract: Disclosed is a deburring apparatus having a tool holder mounted on a mechanism which moves the holder along a path corresponding to the nominal contour of the edge of a cut such as a groove or slot in the work piece to be deburred. A deburring tool is mounted in the tool holder for movement toward and away from the edge to be deburred and is resiliently biased toward the edge so that it automatically follows the cut and removes the burr therefrom despite variations of the edge being deburred from its nominal location.

  • Patent number: 4034647
Abstract: An improvement in a milling apparatus wherein the milling cutter is to perform an operation on successive workpieces indexed into a milling station. The improvement comprises a secondary support for rotatably supporting the free end of the cutter during the milling operation. The secondary support is attached to the main support by which the milling tool is held by its shank. The secondary support is mounted for pivoting movement into and out of engagement with the milling cutter to permit indexing a workpiece through the milling station.

  • Patent number: 4005552
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for modifying the operation of a grinding machine in accordance with the angular position of a workpiece being ground. In addition to conventional apparatus, the improved apparatus comprises means for sensing the angular position of the workpiece with respect to a grinding tool, a memory device for producing output signals when the workpiece is at at least one predetermined angular position and means for adjusting at least one of the position of the grinding tool, the speed of the grinding tool, the lateral movement of the grinding tool across the workpiece, and the speed at which the workpiece is moved in response to said output signals as the grinding tool is being fed into the workpiece.
