Abstract: A press roll belt is arranged to be used in connection with a roll (10) forming a press nip. The belt (12) of the press roll (10) is provided with a groove pattern formed of intersecting grooves (11A, 11B). A press concept has at least one press nip formed between two rolls (30, 32) to remove water from a web. At least one press nip (NA) of the press concept is formed such that the cover (22) or the belt (12) of at least one roll (30A, 32A) forming the press nip is provided with groove patterning formed of intersecting grooves (11A, 11B; 21A, 21B).

Abstract: The press section comprises at least two separate press nips (N1, N2) through which a web (W) to be pressed is passed as a closed draw. The first press nip of the press section is a pre-press nip (N1) formed between a roll (11) placed inside a forming wire loop (12) and a roll (21) placed outside the forming wire loop (12), which pre-press nip is an extended nip. The second press nip of the press section is a press nip proper (N2) provided with two water-receiving press felts (34, 42), through which nip the web (W) runs between said press felts (34, 42). An upper press fabric in the pre-press nip (N1) is formed of a water-receiving press fabric (24) lying against the outer surface of the water-receiving press fabric (24), in which connection the web (W) runs in the pre-press nip (N1) between the lower forming wire (12) and the upper water-permeable press fabric (26). The invention also relates to a method for removing water from a web in a press section provided with a pre-press nip.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving forming of a web of paper or paper board employing prepressing during web forming. Forming wires are brought together over at least one roll or alternatively two rolls. The web then passes, sandwiched between two wires through one or more pressure nips which may be one or more roll nips or an extended nips. The pressure nip may be formed as the web travels between the two fabrics, one of them being a forming wire, along a straight path or alternatively as the web travels partially around a roll. The web is then sandwiched between a wire and a fabric, which may be a felt or a belt, and passed through another press nip which may be one or more roll nips or an extended nip.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus in a paper or board machine for dewatering the web prior to its passage to a press section. The dewatering is effected by a pair of rolls, which is located at the end of a wire section upstream of a pick-up suction roll or a similar transfer device. An additional wire is brought in contact with a side of the web opposite that of the wire of the wire section and it is passed together with the wire of the wire section and the web through the pair of rolls. One of the rolls is an open-surfaced roll for receiving water from the web over its area of contact with the path of travel formed by the wires and the web. The other roll of the pair of rolls is a smooth-surfaced roll and is in contact within the area of contact with the path of travel formed by the wires and the web on the opposite side.

Abstract: A paper or board machine and a method for passing a paper or board web from a forming section to a press section in a paper or board machine wherein the web is carried on a first wire in the forming section or transferred to a first wire from a forming wire of the forming section. The web that runs on the first wire is made to adhere in a transfer and pre-press zone to an outside face of a transfer belt which is substantially non-water-receiving. The pre-press zone includes an extended nip defined by an extended-nip roll and a smooth-faced press roll, the extended-nip roll having a hose mantle and a press shoe arranged in a loop of the hose mantle. After this pre-press zone, the web is separated substantially immediately from the wire and passed on support of the transfer belt onto the next press fabric in the press section and/or into the next press nip.

Abstract: An apparatus in a paper or board machine for dewatering a web carried along a first wire section and prior to introduction of the web to a press section of the paper or board machine. The apparatus comprises a first pair of water removing rolls for receiving the web and the first wire section which include a non-suction water receiving roll which is mounted on a first side of the web and has an open surface for receiving and temporarily holding water removed from the web, and a non-suction smooth surfaced roll mounted on the second side of the web. A second permeable wire section is brought in contact with a side of the web opposite that of the first wire section while passing through the pair of rolls. The first and second wire sections produce a press nip when they pass through the pair of water removing rolls with the web to remove water from the web, the water being removed to openings in the open surface of the non-suction water receiving roll.

Abstract: An extended nip press for a paper machine for removing water from a wet paper, cardboard or that kind of a fibrous or porous web. The press comprises a rotatable press roll and two band rolls parallel to the press roll and an endless press band running around them which is pressed against the press roll for forming an extended press zone. The paper web to be dried is conveyed through the pressing zone with a dewatering felt. The press band consists of several separate parallel band strips, in the pressure zone. Each band strip is equipped with its own stretching device for individual regulation of the tension of the band strip.
