  • Patent number: 11456788
Abstract: Mechanisms for selecting beam direction for a radio communications device are provided. A method is performed by the radio communications device. The method includes obtaining radio channel estimates of a radio channel on which radio waves have been transmitted between the radio communications device and another radio communications device at an angle of arrival and departure. The method includes determining a Doppler shift from the radio channel estimates. The method includes estimating at least one of the angle of arrival and departure of the radio waves based on the Doppler shift. The method includes selecting a beam direction for a signal to be transmitted between the radio communications device and this another radio communications device over the radio channel according to the estimated angle of arrival or departure.

  • Patent number: 10673512
Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for precoding over a beam subset. A method is performed by a network node. The method comprises exchanging reference signal information for a set of transmission beams or set of antenna ports with a wireless device. The method comprises acquiring, based on the reference signal information, information regarding which proper subset of transmission beams from the set of transmission beams to use for communication with the wireless device. The method comprises determining precoding weights for the proper subset of transmission beams or antenna ports based on the reference signal information.

  • Patent number: 10382110
Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for adaptive user-specific beam forming. A method is performed by a network node. The method comprises acquiring uplink user-specific spatial channel characteristics for a wireless device. The method comprises acquiring a set of downlink port mappings for the wireless device. The method comprises adaptively configuring user-specific ports for the wireless device by using the uplink user-specific spatial channel statistics to determine a downlink user-specific port mapping from the set of downlink port mappings, thereby providing user-specific beam forming for the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 10349414
Abstract: There is provided a system for scheduled transmission from at least two network devices in a cellular communications network. The system comprises at least two network devices. Each respective network device is configured to transmit in sectors using directional transmission beams. The at least two network devices are configured to transmit in the sectors according to a beamforming pattern according to which concurrent received power from all but one of the at least two network devices in sectors in which more than one network device is enabled to transmit using the directional transmission beams is below a threshold interference power level.
