  • Patent number: 4271287
Abstract: Amorphous polyethylene terephthalate can be polycondensed in the solid phase to a higher molecular weight product by a continuous process involving preheating the polymer under forced motion, at least partially crystallizing the preheated polymer in a fixed bed, and polycondensing the polymer in a forced motion reactor at temperatures in the range of 220.degree. to 245.degree.
