  • Publication number: 20150297903
Abstract: The invention is a system that comprises both an Airway and Ventilation device (AV) and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) device. The system is provided with means for assisting only minimally trained persons to operate it in emergency situations involving respiratory failure and/or cardiac arrhythmias. An integral part of AV of the system is a face mask comprised of two parts—a face attachment unit configured to attach to the patient's face and a mask body that is releasably connected to the face attachment unit by a quick release mechanism allowing quick removal of the mask body from the face attachment unit, leaving only the face attachment unit attached to the patients' face, in order to address urgencies such as vomiting. After vomiting ceases and is cleared, then the mask body may be reattached to continue ventilation.

  • Publication number: 20090038451
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for monitoring the functionality of the contour cutting blade by cutting at least a portion of the top sheet, which is connected to the reservoir of sheet material, along a separation line with the cutting blade so as to at least partially separate the stack portion of sheet material from the reservoir of sheet material. The separation line, therefore, defines the trailing edge of the stack portion of the sheet and a leading edge of the reservoir of sheet material. Checking the functionality of the cutting blade is achieved by retracting the leading edge of the reservoir from the trailing edge of the stack portion. The ability to perform this retracting step is considered as indication that the cutting blade is functioning properly. Likewise, the inability to perform this retracting step is considered as indication that the cutting blade has malfunctioned and an appropriate resolution is required.

  • Patent number: 6675974
Abstract: An apparatus for use with an array of liquid specimen containers having open upper ends includes a panel structure having an array of openings corresponding to the array of liquid specimen containers such that the open upper ends of the containers will be aligned with the openings upon placement of the panel structure over the containers in an upright engagement with the containers. The apparatus further includes filter material stretched across the openings so as to extend across the open upper ends of the containers in overlying abutment with the open upper ends of the containers when the panel structure is in the upright engagement. In this arrangement, liquid contents of the containers can flow downward through the filter material when the panel structure and the containers are together moved from their upright engagement to an overturned engagement inverted from their upright engagement.

  • Patent number: 6350414
Abstract: A device for simultaneous processing of a number of liquid specimens is disclosed. The device is in the form of a plate having a plurality of compartments, each compartment being adapted to hold a liquid specimen and having an aperture at its top for introducing and withdrawing liquid into and from the compartment, respectively. Each compartment has a vent opening at a side wall at about mid portion thereof between the compartment's top and bottom, the vent opening is at one end of a duct and the other end of the duct opens to the atmosphere wherein each of the compartments has an upper converging portion ending in an aperture with an annular rim adapted for tight engagement with a filter sheet and having a bottom portion with an inverted dome shape.
