Abstract: A device and method for power source based device authentication is provided. The device comprises: a power interface configured to receive power from an external power source; a detector configured to detect a characteristic of the power received by the power interface; and a controller. When the characteristic of the power matches an authorized characteristic, the controller implements an authorization process to provide access to the device. When the characteristic of the power does not match the authorized characteristic, the controller implements a deny-authorization process to deny access to the device.
