Patent number: 7807210Abstract: The present invention relates to providing a porous, hydrophobic polymer with a hemocompatible substance and to the materials produced thereby. One embodiment of the present invention relates to the providing of expanded poly(tetrafluoroethylene) with one or more complexes of heparin, typically containing heparin in combination with a hydrophobic counter ion. The hemocompatible substance is dissolved in a mixture of solvents in which a first solvent wets the polymer to be coated and the second solvent enhances the solubility of the hemocompatible substance material in the solvent mixture. Typical first solvents wetting hydrophobic polymers include non-polar such as hydrochlorofluorocarbons. Typical second solvents include polar solvents such as organic alcohols and ketones. Azeotropic mixtures of the second solvent in the first solvent are used in some embodiments of the present invention although second solvents may be employed in a range of concentration ranges from less than 0.1% up to saturation.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2004Date of Patent: October 5, 2010Assignee: Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc.Inventors: Wouter E. Publication number: 20090254118Abstract: A sheath attached to a guide wire, a tubular shaft member slidable on the guide wire and a filtering assembly constricted within the sheath are movable in a vessel to a position distal to a lesion in the direction of fluid flow. The filtering assembly may be formed from a plurality of angularly spaced splines and a mesh disposed on the splines having properties of passing fluid in the vessel while blocking the passage of emboli in the fluid. The splines may be provided with shape memory for expanding against the wall of the vessel when released from constriction by the sheath. The sheath may be moved relative to the filtering assembly and the support member to release the filter for expansion against the vessel wall. An interventional device can be used to treat the lesion. Any emboli released into the vessel as a result of the interventional treatment are blocked by the filter member while fluid is allowed to pass there through.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2009Publication date: October 8, 2009Applicant: ADVANCED CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Niraj A. Shah, Joann Heberer

Publication number: 20080132592Abstract: The present invention relates to providing a porous, hydrophobic polymer substrate with a hemocompatible substance. One embodiment of the present invention relates to the providing of expanded poly(tetrafluoroethylene) with one or more complexes of heparin, typically containing heparin in combination with a hydrophobic counter ion. The hemocompatible substance is dissolved in a mixture of solvents in which a first solvent wets the polymer substrate to be coated and the second solvent enhances the solubility of the hemocompatible substance material in the solvent mixture. Typical first solvents wetting a hydrophobic polymer substrate include non-polar such as hydrocholorofluorocarbons. Typical second solvents include polar solvents such as organic alcohols and ketones. Azeotropic mixtures of the second solvent in the first solvent are used in some embodiments of the present invention although second solvents may be employed in a range of concentration ranges from less than 0.1% up to saturation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2008Publication date: June 5, 2008Inventors: WOUTER E. Publication number: 20080125857Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention provide a medical device comprising at least one blood-contacting surface comprising a porous hydrophobic polymer substrate, wherein at least a portion of the at least one blood-contacting surface comprises a hemocompatible polymer substrate. Publication number: 20080046316Abstract: A system and method maximize profits by determining the optimal combination of sale price for a product and bids for advertising. The system and method address the non-linear relationship between product pricing and advertising through an advertising bidding system. In particular, a seller sells a product at a plurality of sale prices and buys the at least one advertisement by submitting a plurality of bid prices to the at least one advertising venue, resulting in a combination of bid prices for the at least one advertisement at each of the plurality of sale prices. Data from advertising with each of the at least one advertisement is collected. Then, a non-linear model for pricing and bidding is determined from the collected data, and an optimal price for the product and an optimal advertising bid for each of the at least one advertisement is determined from the non-linear model.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2006Publication date: February 21, 2008Inventors: Niraj Shah, Steven Conine

Publication number: 20060248021Abstract: Public records are used to help in the detection and prevention of fraud as well as to verify a consumer. Public records are accessed in real-time and then used to determine if a consumer is who they claim to be or is a fraudster. Questions are generated using the public records based on an initial fraud score and a verification level associated with the entity requesting the fraud and verification services. Based on the response to the questions, the fraud score is updated and a confidence level is returned to the requestor to determine whether the user is legitimate or a fraudster. The questions may be presented online or offline. The verification can be different for every merchant.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2005Publication date: November 2, 2006Applicant: InteliusInventors: Naveen Jain, John Arnold, Kevin Marcus, Niraj Shah

Publication number: 20060248048Abstract: Records are obtained from various sources, including public records, and are then augmented and grouped. At least one augment key is applied to each of the records resulting in an augment key value for each record. The records are augmented based on the key value. Augmenting the records includes combining the fields of the common records into a single record and then removing the duplicate records. The augmented records are then grouped according to household. At least one household grouping key is applied to each of the augmented records resulting in a household grouping key value for each record. The records having the same household grouping key value are displayed as a household grouping.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2005Publication date: November 2, 2006Applicant: InteliusInventors: Naveen Jain, John Arnold, Kevin Marcus, Niraj Shah
