  • Patent number: 10440563
Abstract: A first network device determines a first pointer value associated with a first management instance that includes at least one of network access or mobility management functions for user equipment (UE) interaction with a wireless network. The first network device installs, at a second network device, the first management instance, along with the first pointer value. The first network device changes the first pointer value in response to a first event associated with the wireless network or one or more other networks. The first pointer value is used for selecting at least one management instance, among a plurality of management instances that include the first management instance, for servicing wireless service requests from UEs to the wireless network.

Abstract: A first device can receive an attach request that includes information associated with a user device. The user device can provide the attach request to request access to a network. The first device can provide, to a second device and using the information associated with the user device, a request for information associated with a group identifier that is associated with the user device. The first device can receive, from the second device, the information associated with the group identifier that is associated with the user device based on providing the request for information associated with the group identifier. The first device can determine a network slice identifier that is associated with the user device based on the information associated with the group identifier that is associated with the user device. The first device can permit the user device to access a network slice, of the network, that is associated with the network slice identifier based on determining the network slice identifier.

  • Patent number: 10397184
Abstract: A device can receive, from a network device, a request to create an internet protocol (IP) session for a user device. The device can allocate an IP address for the user device and a first tunnel endpoint identifier associated with a tunnel. The IP address can include a first set of bits associated with a location identifier and a second set of bits associated with a device identifier. The device can provide a response to the network device, and can receive a request that includes a second tunnel endpoint identifier associated with the tunnel. The device can provide the IP address and the first and second tunnel endpoint identifiers to be stored using a data structure. The device can provide a response to the network device indicating to establish the downlink portion of the IP session, and can perform one or more actions associated with managing the IP session.

  • Patent number: 10383046
Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which a radio access network slice and core network slice service is provided based on RAN-CN network slice pairing information. A radio access network slice and/or a core network slice uses the RAN-CN network slice pairing information to select network resources to support sessions of end devices. The RAN-CN network slice pairing information may include location information, radio access network slice information, core network slice information correlated to different types or applications or services available to end devices. The RAN-CN network slice pairing information may include information indicating current and available radio access network resources pertaining to the radio access network slices and threshold resources that may be used to support the different types of applications or services.

  • Patent number: 9549345
Abstract: Bandwidth for a radio access network may be efficiently allocated for certain voice over LTE (VoLTE) services. In one implementation, a request associated with traffic flows may be received. Each of the traffic flows may be associated with an amount of guaranteed bit rate (GBR) traffic. The method may further include selectively summing the GBR traffic, to obtain an aggregate bandwidth value. The method may further include reserving an amount of GBR bandwidth corresponding to the previous version of the aggregate bandwidth value when a comparison indicates that the aggregate bandwidth value is less than the previous version of the aggregate bandwidth value; and reservation an amount of GBR bandwidth corresponding to the aggregate bandwidth value when a comparison indicates that the aggregate bandwidth value is not less than the previous version of the aggregate bandwidth value.

  • Patent number: 9544939
Abstract: A first device associated with an evolved packet core network receives a first update request from a second device associated with the evolved packet core network. The first update request is associated with a communication session previously provided between the first device and the second device, and the first update request is generated based on a voice/video request. The first device generates an update answer in response to the first update request, where the update answer includes a code requesting that the communication session be restored between the first device and the second device. The first device receives, based on the code, a second update request from the second device, where the second update request includes session information associated with the communication session. The first device restores, based on the session information, the communication session between the first device and the second device to create a restored communication session.

  • Patent number: 9529680
Abstract: A device may receive a virtual image of a first state of a first virtual machine. Session information of the state of the first virtual machine may be synchronized with a second state of a second virtual machine. The second state of the second virtual machine may become active when the first virtual machine becomes unavailable. The device may identify that the first virtual machine is unavailable; and output, based on the identifying, the virtual image of the first state to a particular third virtual machine, to cause the particular third virtual machine to restore the first state of the first virtual machine. The second state of the second virtual machine may become inactive when the first state is restored to the third virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 9301280
Abstract: A system may include a first network device, configured to establish first and second channels with a user device, the first and second channels being channels of a network layer of an Open Systems Interconnect (“OSI”) model, receive traffic associated with the user device, and output the traffic via one of the first channel or the second channel. The system may also include a second network device, configured to receive the traffic outputted by the first network device, identify via which channel, of the first and second channels, the traffic was outputted, determine a paging scheme associated with the identified channel, generate a downlink data notification (“DDN”) request, the DDN request indicating the determined paging scheme, and output the DDN request to a third network device, wherein the third network device performs paging, based on the determined paging scheme, to locate the user device.
