  • Patent number: 6286209
Abstract: Method of producing a contact terminal (1; 17; 18; 35; 36; 60) provided with a least a first contact surface (4; 25; 26; 64) for contacting e.g. a mating contact area (6; 18; 17) including at least the following steps: a) stamping the contact terminal from a) piece of blank having a substantially flat surface with a predetermined first width, said first contact surface (4; 25; 26; 64) being substantially perpendicular to said flat surface; b) pressing said first contact surface (4; 25; 26; 64) against a first, highly polished surface (27; 66) of a support tool (16), said first polished surface (27; 66) having a first predetermined shape; c) exerting a first predetermined force on said contact terminal in order to deform said first contact surface (4; 25; 26; 64) against said first, highly polished surface (27; 66) of said support tool (16), thus polishing said first contact surface.

  • Patent number: 6280248
Abstract: Hold-Down element (1) for holding, in a clamping manner, an electrical and/or electronic component, such as a connector, onto a substrate. The hold-down element (1) comprising a first part (2) for engaging the substrate and a second part (5) for engaging the component to be mounted. The first part (2) having an essentially flat, elongate shape provided with a member (7) which is offset with respect to the raised member (7), so that the first part (2), under the influence of a force exerted thereon during the insertion of the hold-down element (1) in a mounting opening, can diverge in the opposite direction to the raised member (7) and can engage, in a clamping manner, the substrate by means of the divergent portion in the mounting opening. The hold-down element (1) may also be used as the connecting end of a component.

  • Patent number: 5611700
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical connector assembly comprising a plug connector and a socket connector mating therewith, which plug connector is provided with at least two rows of terminal connections and which socket connector is provided with at least two rows of terminal connections. The plug connector is provided with at least one electrically conducting first type of shielding member arranged between the rows of terminal connections, and the socket connector is provided with at least one conducting second type of shielding member arranged between the rows of terminal connections. The first shielding member and the second shielding member make electrically conducting contact with one another when the plug connector and the socket connector have been pushed into one another, wherein the first type of shielding member in the plug connector and the second type of shielding member in the socket connector slide along each other in one plane to make electrical contact.

  • Patent number: 5478248
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing and a plurality of terminals secured within the housing for mounting a mating connector or an electronic module or the like having a plurality of electronic leads disposed thereon to a printed substrate. Each of the terminals has a connecting base portion that is mechanically connected to the printed substrate and a non-connecting base portion that is not mechanically connected to the printed substrate, but rather freely contacts the printed substrate. A first contact beam is cantilevered from the connecting base portion and has a distal end, while a second contact beam is similarly cantilevered from the non-connecting base portion and also has a distal end wherein a gap is formed between the distal ends of the contact beams. The leads of the mating connectors or the like are inserted into the gap for contacting engagement with the contact beams.

  • Patent number: 5277618
    Abstract: Connector (1, 11, 24, 26, 36, 40) for mounting on a substrate (2, 14, 23, 25, 35, 46) comprising one or more contact elements (13, 28, 29, 37, 44) accommodated in a housing (3, 12, 41), having a mounting side (19, 32, 39), which, in the mounted state of the connector (1, 11, 24, 26, 36, 40) is situated opposite a face of the substrate (2, 14, 23, 25, 35, 46). The fixing means of the connector (1, 11, 24, 26, 36, 40) consist of at least one element, projecting outside the housing (3, 12, 41) beyond the mounting side (19, 32, 39) and connected thereto, preferably a pin-type element (7, 47) for engaging in an opening (8, 48) of the substrate (2, 14, 23, 25, 35, 46). The at least one element (7, 47) is disposed so as to be displaced outwards from a wall (9; 15, 16; 38; 42, 43) of the housing (3, 12, 41), which wall (9; 15, 16; 38; 42, 43 ) adjoins the mounting side (19, 32, 39). The at least one fixing element (7, 47) can also be used for positioning and polarising purposes.

  • Patent number: 5269700
Abstract: Insulation displacement contact (1) of electrically conducting sheet material for insulation displacement contacting of an insulated electrical conductor, comprising two sheet parts (2, 3), each sheet part (2, 3) having formed in it a slit (4, 5) with a slit opening (6, 7) which opens out in an edge of the sheet part (2, 3), in order to receive the electrical conductor. The sheet parts (2, 3) are disposed with surfaces facing each other at an angle and are each individually connected to a common base part (12) at a further edge situated opposite the slit opening (6, 7) concerned. The connection to the base part (12) here extends only over a part of the further edge. The base part (12) and the free part (16, 17) of the further edge of each sheet part (2, 3) form support points lying displaced in the direction along the surface of the sheet parts (2, 3). A connector (29) with contact elements equipped with such an insulation displacement contact (1 ) is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5080605
Abstract: An insulation displacement contact for insulation displacement contacting of an insulated electrical conductor disposed in a cable. Each contact comprises two flat sheet parts abutting against each other, obtained by folding over a flat blank of metal and provided with projecting tongues bounding an aperture for receiving the cable and displacing the insulation thereof. The ends of the tongues lying away from the aperture are folded over essentially at right angles to the plane of the flat sheet parts, in order to form an H-shape.
