    Abstract: The invention is directed to a temple for an eyeglass frame, the temple including (a) a downwardly inclined temple end portion which is securely supportable behind the ear at the side head of one who wears the eyeglasses, and (b) a ball tip attached to the rear end of the inclined temple end portion by a spring. The inclined temple end portion terminates at substantially the bottom of a concave portion in a curvature of the behind-the-end region and is shaped to substantially fit along a curvature of the behind-the-ear region. The spring extends in the direction of inclination of the inclined temple end portion and is a wire or plate spring having high resilience. The ball tip is in a position wherein it contacts the wearers side head at a rear half region of a concave portion in the curvature of the behind-the-ear region.

    Abstract: A cutting machine for preparing a model for spectacle lenses comprising a base rotatable about its axis by a drive for supporting a spectacle dummy lens or real lens concentrically placed thereon and serving as a model lens, a clamp rotatable with the base and the lens for holding the lens between the base and the clamp, a profiling member adapted to contact the outer periphery of the lens held between the base and the clamp, a rotary head rotatable at the same speed as the base by drive means about an axis parallel with the axis of the base for holding a model work thereon concentrically therewith, and a stationary cutter for cutting the work on the rotary head.

    Abstract: A lug connecting device for a metal rim of a spectacle frame comprising a first lug formed on the rim and having a horizontal slit, a pin fixed to the first lug, a second lug on the rim and adjacent the first lug, a tie plate having an attaching portion inserted in the horizontal slit and a plate spring portion extending alongside the lugs, a bore formed in the second lug and having the pin fitted therein, and a stop provided on the second lug and engaged in an aperture formed in the plate spring portion, the plate spring portion being elastically deformable with torsion of the rim.
