  • Patent number: 10560602
Abstract: A system and method provide an improvement to publications with gutter creep that shifts page content to the edges of pages. In an exemplary embodiment, a process may be triggered which determines a printable page area for pages of each respective sheet that will be printed on, based on the sheet gutter value for the page. A scaling factor may be applied to the printable page area to produce a scaled printable area. The printed content may be scaled within the printable area by the scaling factor so that when the gutter creep value becomes larger and there is less printable area available, the content remains readable on the page. A user interface may include a manual creep shift button to shift positioned scaled printed content toward or away from a sheet fold axis.

  • Patent number: 10356277
Abstract: A system and method provide an improvement to publications with gutter creep that shifts page content to the edges of pages, if not off the page entirely. In an exemplary embodiment, a process may be triggered which determines a printable page area for pages of each respective sheet that will be printed on, based on the sheet gutter value for the page. A scaling factor is applied to the printable page area to produce a scaled printable area. The printed content may be scaled within the printable area by the scaling factor so that when the gutter creep value becomes larger and there is less printable area available, the content remains readable on the page.

  • Patent number: 10185525
Abstract: A system and method provide efficiency in the placement of image objects onto a page space. Print jobs become more efficient in use of page space to minimize the amount of blank space left by maximizing the number of images per space available according to a process of defining columns and rows for each column. A column may be defined by the available image object with the largest width. Subsequent columns may be defined by the next objects with the next largest widths that fit within available page space. Once columns are defined, each column may define rows based on the image objects that maximize page space for each row. The process may reiterate for each column until no more image objects are available or the remaining available empty page space can no longer fit an object.

  • Patent number: 10185518
Abstract: A system and method provide an improvement to ordering pages for a multi-page print job. In an exemplary embodiment, a user interface includes a layout control feature which when engaged, invokes an underlying process that computes which pages are to be initially imposed onto a sheet, and thereafter, based on an increment value assigned to one or more of the pages entries, automatically imposes pages (and their content) to the page order for the print job. Page entries may have different increment values and thus a non-sequential and/or heterogenous page output may result alleviating the user from having to individually manually assign each page to a print position in the print job.

  • Patent number: 8456690
Abstract: A method of automatically placing N-up images for imposition on media sheet for printing in which, for a user selected value of N, the co-ordinates of the sheet cells are determined and stored; and, the co-ordinates of the media, trim and bleed boxes of each of the images is determined and stored. The user selects, from a menu, a desired set of alignment rules and the system then compares the location of the appropriate bleed, trim or media box with the sheet cell boundaries and shifts the images and automatically locates the selected box on the sheet cell for the desired placement. The method is particularly useful for eliminating the template making in large print jobs for roll fed presses.

  • Publication number: 20070159641
Abstract: A method for customizing a printed document. The method includes determining the scent application capabilities of a finishing system. If the finishing system can produce a scent, the next step is to determine whether to apply a scent to the document based at least in part upon information associated with the intended recipient of the document. The document is then printed and a scent is applied to the document if it is determined that a scent should be applied to the document. Adding variable scents to variable documents can help increase the power of targeted advertising.

  • Publication number: 20060203288
Abstract: Embodiments herein generally relate to registration of two-sided printing systems and methods that allows both sides of a printed sheet to be simultaneously displayed on a graphic user interface to allow each side to be aligned (registered) with each other and with the printing medium.
