  • Patent number: 7535819
Abstract: A method of improving frequency diversity of a signal that includes a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols comprises receiving an input data sequence, mapping the input data sequence to a transmission data sequence, wherein the mapping includes performing a mapping operation and generating an OFDM symbol using the transmission data sequence. An orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmitter comprises an interface configured to receive an input data sequence, and a processor configured to perform a mapping operation, to map the input data sequence to a transmission data sequence wherein the mapping includes performing the mapping operation, and to generate an OFDM symbol using the transmission data sequence.

  • Patent number: 7519123
Abstract: A method of shaping an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal spectrum of a transmitted signal is disclosed. An input signal including an input component is received and a first instance of the input component is generated. The method also includes determining that a second instance of the input component is to be different than the first instance. The second instance of the input component that is different from the first instance is generated. An output signal to be transmitted is generated and includes the first instance and the second instance of the input component.

  • Publication number: 20080268779
Abstract: A victim wireless device is detected by obtaining a set of wireless bands and a set of time periods. During a given time period a subset of wireless bands corresponding to that time period is vacant and a remaining subset of wireless bands is used to exchange data. During each of the time periods in the set of time periods: a signal, if any, is received; in the event a signal is received, the subset of vacant wireless bands corresponding to that time period is recorded; and after the set of time periods ends, it is determined whether there is a victim wireless device based at least in part on the number of vacant wireless bands recorded.

  • Patent number: 7414963
Abstract: A method of processing a received OFDM symbol is disclosed. The received OFDM symbol has a symbol portion and a zero suffix portion. An information bearing portion of the zero suffix portion that is likely to contain information is determined and is combined with the symbol portion.

  • Publication number: 20080019420
Abstract: A protected wireless device is avoided. An indication is received that another wireless device has detected a protected wireless device. The protected wireless device is avoided in the event the wireless device that detected the protected wireless device is within a threshold number of hops from the wireless device that received the indication.

  • Publication number: 20070165586
Abstract: A communication is received that includes information regarding a quiet period on a wireless logical channel. During the quiet period, transmissions are refrained from occurring on the wireless logical channel. At least one device performs a process to detect wireless devices, if any, on the wireless logical channel during at least part of the quiet period.

  • Publication number: 20070147410
Abstract: A wireless device is detected. A signal is received via a wireless medium. The received signal is processed to detect a wireless device, if any, to communicate with regarding a quiet period. During the quiet period, wireless devices that are aware of the quiet period refrain from transmitting, and the device performing the technique is operating on a first physical channel and the wireless device being detected is associated with a second physical channel. In the event a wireless device is detected, information associated with the detection is forwarded.

  • Publication number: 20070080800
Abstract: Detecting a wireless device is disclosed. A situation in a wireless medium is created for the wireless device to transmit. A transmission of the wireless device is received. The wireless device is detected based at least in part on information associated with the received transmission of the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20070082633
Abstract: Avoiding a frequency spectrum in a wireless medium is disclosed. An identification of the frequency spectrum in the wireless medium to avoid is obtained. A set of subcarriers to suppress based at least on part on the frequency spectrum to avoid is determined. Information is reallocated in response to the set of subcarriers to suppress.

  • Publication number: 20070050752
Abstract: A palette of representations that can be generated by an application for database, spreadsheet, word processing, and the like, is provided in response to a request for a new object within the application. If the application already has one or more objects open at the time of the request, the representations are also determined based on the context of the data such as from any currently open object(s). The new object is then generated based on the selected representation from the palette, the context of the data, and a structure of data consumed by the application. The layout parameters for the new object are automatically set based on the current context, the structure of the data, and the selected representation.
