  • Patent number: 10955917
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for identifying potentially seizure-inducing virtual reality content are disclosed herein. An example apparatus includes a neurological data collector to access first neurological response data collected from a user during exposure of the user to first media. The example apparatus includes a predictor to generate a prediction on a likelihood that a portion of second media will trigger an adverse neurological medical event in the user based the portion of the second media and the first neurological response data. The example apparatus includes a content modifier to modify the portion of the second media to create modified media in response to the prediction and output the modified media for presentation to the user.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for changing a cognitive state of a user are disclosed. An example system includes a sensor to gather first electroencephalographic data from the user and an analyzer to determine a first cognitive state of the user based on the first electroencephalographic data and to determine a first binaural beat to present to the user based on the first cognitive state and a second cognitive state. The example system also includes an output to present the first binaural beat to the user. The sensor is to gather second electroencephalographic data from the user exposed to the first binaural beat. The analyzer is to determine a first effectiveness of the first binaural beat to place the user in the second cognitive state, and to determine a second binaural beat to present to the user based on the first cognitive state, the second cognitive state, and the second electroencephalographic data. The output is to present the second binaural beat to the user.

  • Patent number: 10067565
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for identifying potentially seizure-inducing virtual reality content are disclosed herein. An example apparatus includes a virtual reality presentation device to display virtual reality content for exposure to a user and a neurological data collector to access first neurological response data collected from the user during exposure to the virtual reality content. The example apparatus includes a predictor to generate a prediction on a likelihood that a portion of the virtual reality content will trigger a seizure based on a first vector characterizing the portion and the first neurological response data. The example apparatus includes a content modifier to modify the portion of the virtual reality content into modified virtual reality content in response to the prediction. • Publication number: 20150185806
Abstract: A method for sensing, in an electronic device, the presence and inferring therefrom an intent of an object includes sensing a baseline ambient spatial average temperature for a sensed field of view, monitoring the sensed field of view for a variation in the ambient spatial average temperature of the field of view relative to the baseline, characterizing any detected variation, determining whether the detected variation is a recognized variation, and causing the electronic device to take at least one predetermined action responsive to a recognized variation.

  • Publication number: 20140109012
Abstract: An overview mode is used to navigate content. While in the overview mode, content is displayed as thumbnails such that a user may more easily locate content. A document map may also be displayed with a display of thumbnails while in the overview mode. The document map displays an outline of the content that includes selectable elements to assist in navigating the content. The number of thumbnails displayed may change while in the overview mode (e.g. receiving a pinch/stretch gesture). The thumbnails displayed may also be adjusted (e.g. up/down/left/right) using gestures (e.g. drag, swipe . . . ). A drill down view displays an expanded view of content on a thumbnail in response to receiving a drill down instruction (e.g. a tap and hold gesture on a thumbnail). A thumbnail may also be selected (e.g. tapped) to return to the original viewing mode and to display the content of the selected thumbnail.
