Abstract: An apparatus in one embodiment comprises a storage system that includes storage resources accessible to multiple processes. A controller associated with the storage system is configured to control designation of a given one of the processes as a leader relative to the other ones of the processes so as to provide the given process with prioritized access to perform processing operations involving at least one of the storage resources. In conjunction with designation of the given one of the processes as the leader, the controller is configured to permit the given process to obtain a lease on the leader designation for a period of time that is determined based at least in part on a specified time-to-live value. The lease-based leader designation is illustratively implemented without requiring any interaction between the processes. For example, the processes do not need to reach any consensus relating to the designation of the leader.

Abstract: A processing device in one embodiment comprises a processor coupled to a memory and is configured to obtain a plurality of security alerts in a computer network, to process the security alerts to extract a plurality of markers from each of the security alerts, to compute at least one relevance score relating a given one of the security alerts to another one of the security alerts based at least in part on distance measures computed between markers shared by the given security alert and the other security alert, and to adjust at least one operating characteristic of a network security system of the computer network based at least in part on the relevance score. The relevance score may be computed as a function of a number of markers shared by the given security alert and the other security alert.

The processor may be configured to determine that a first set of performance metrics does not satisfy a threshold analysis criterion. The performance metrics may correspond to a deployed product and a user segment. A user segment may be a set of individuals that use a product or service. The segment may be a sample of a population of users. An institution may provide the product to one or more of the customers to provide the customer with an opportunity to acquire or use additional measures of goods that the customer already has or uses.
