Patent number: 9667781Abstract: A method is provided for implementing a local call hold in a dual subscription dual active first communication device. A first voice call may be established with a second communication device via a first communication network. An indication of a second voice call may be received from a third communication device via a second communication network. The first voice call may be placed on hold by sending a call hold indicator within a regularly transmitted frame to the second communication device. The second voice call may be established with the third communication device after placing the first voice call on hold. The first voice call with the second communication device may be subsequently resumed by excluding the call hold indicator from the regularly transmitted frame to the second communication device.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2013Date of Patent: May 30, 2017Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Abhijeet Sinha, Nitin Sachdeva, Neha Goel

Patent number: 9467963Abstract: Devices, systems, articles of manufacture, and methods for obtaining system information for a wireless communication device are described. According to some embodiments, a subscription supported by the wireless communication device enters a paging reorganization mode. The wireless communication device acquires a portion of system information by a first subscription using a radio frequency (RF) resource. The subscription changes a paging mode of the wireless communication device. The subscription releases the RF resource after acquiring the portion of the system information and prior to acquiring all of the system information. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2013Date of Patent: October 11, 2016Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Neha Goel, Nitin Sachdeva

Patent number: 9131061Abstract: An audio gateway device may establish a wireless connection between the audio gateway device and the hands free device using a protocol supporting a single subscription. The audio gateway device may also establish a first call which terminates or originates at the hands free device via a first subscription. An outgoing call may be established via a second subscription by: (a) receiving a first indicator from the hands free device to switch subscriptions, where the first indicator does not specify a subscription; and (b) establishing an originating second call via the second subscription which originates at the hands free device. Similarly, an incoming call may be established via the second subscription by: (a) sending a second indicator to the hands free device of an incoming third call, where the second indicator does not specify a subscription; and (b) establishing the third call via the second subscription which terminates at the hands free device.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2014Date of Patent: September 8, 2015Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Abhijeet Sinha, Atul Shukla, Nitin Sachdeva, Nitin Srivastava, Mallikarjuna Giriyapura Basavarajappa, Srikanth Chintala, Hanumanthu Ganji, Sandeep Gutta, Yau Mo Chan, Ling Hang

Publication number: 20150215849Abstract: A method for wireless communication by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes searching for service on a public land mobile network (PLMN). The method also includes discovering a cell of a requested PLMN. The method further includes determining that cell selection criteria for the cell is not met. The method additionally includes adding the cell to a monitored list. The method also includes monitoring cells in the monitored list more frequently than cells not in the monitored list. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2014Publication date: July 30, 2015Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Harinath Reddy Patel, Mungal Singh Dhanda, Mahender Reddy Akkapally, Simon Walke, Nitin Sachdeva

Publication number: 20150163726Abstract: Aspects of apparatus and methods for wireless communication include starting to perform a manual public land mobile network (PLMN) search by a user equipment (UE); while the manual PLMN search is ongoing, scanning one or more frequency bands to determine an available cell; and determining whether to camp on the available cell before the manual PLMN search is completed by the UE. In some aspects, the determining of whether to camp on the available cell includes decoding a system information block (SIB) or system information (SI) related to a cell suitability criterion of the available cell; determining whether the available cell is suitable based on the SIB or the SI; when the available cell is suitable, suspending the manual PLMN search and decoding other related SIBs or SIs of the available cell; and when the available cell is not suitable, resuming the manual PLMN search.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2014Publication date: June 11, 2015Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Pankaj Bansal, Srinivasarao Pasumarthi, Manjunatha Subbamma Ananda, Nitin Sachdeva

Patent number: 8761788Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for improved throughput for network subscriptions in multi-SIM, multi-standby wireless devices by altering a tune away frequency to another network subscription based on throughput level or communication link parameters. For example, the present application provides a method of tune away in a wireless system, which includes initiating a data session via a first subscription in a multi-subscriber identity module, multi-standby user equipment, determining that a data rate associated with the data session is less than a threshold data rate value, establishing a modified tune away frequency based on the determining, and tuning a radio resource away to a second subscription based on the modified tune away frequency. Through such operation, throughput on an active subscription in such user equipment can be dynamically maximized.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2012Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Anand Rajurkar, Bhaskara V.
