  • Patent number: 7343560
Abstract: A method and system for imaging a workstation (or other device) and then associating that image with a specific device are disclosed. The present invention enables an administrator to take an image of a basic workstation (with minimum or no applications) and then when the image is downloaded to the workstation, the service may look into a Directory and download with the image the set of files associated with an Application Object that has been associated with the image in the Directory. Another embodiment of the present invention further provides a method and system for applying an image to a workstation that had never been imported into the tree. A rules-based system may be implemented to enable one or more workstations that are booting to find the image and have it applied.

  • Patent number: 7277915
Abstract: In a mobile device operating on a wireless network, one of multiple selectable proxies and its corresponding protocol stack are selected, to proxy a request and response, based on the application making the request. Connection information for each available proxy is stored in a configuration store. The application requests a Net Proxy object for the particular proxy and protocol stack to be used. The Net Proxy object contains a subset of the stored connection information specific to the particular proxy. An HttpAction object is then created for the request, and the Net Proxy object is linked to the HttpAction object. The HttpAction object is provided to a request manager, which dispatches the request to an appropriate protocol stack, based on the content of the net Proxy object linked to the HttpAction object, which causing the request to be sent to the selected proxy.

  • Publication number: 20050138407
Abstract: In one embodiment, the invention provides a method for handling a digital rights protected object. In the method a digital rights protected object is received, and thereafter, digital rights information associated with the object is separated from content associated with the object. The digital rights information is stored in a digital rights information repository, whereas the content is stored in a content repository. A digital rights handle is created to link the digital rights information to the content and a digital rights management module is provided, which can be created by an application to determine if a digital rights restriction exists for content that prevents usage of the content.

  • Patent number: 6684293
Abstract: Methods and a computer readable medium are provided for preserving unique critical information during the data imaging process. A method of augmenting the image process is provided wherein information necessary to properly operate one or more network applications, uniquely identify a computing device on the network, or to fulfill any other similar role is acquired. The information is from time to time stored in locations of the storage device which are not partitioned or otherwise used by the computing device. Further, a computer readable medium is provided wherein one or more locations are partitioned and available for use without any significant restrictions. Additionally, a method of restoring a memory associated with a computing device connected to a network of additional computing devices is provided. Also, critical information is acquired from time to time, and the data including the identifying information are restored upon a request.
