  • Patent number: 11896497
Abstract: Disclosed is an assembly and method for implant installation between adjacent vertebral bodies of a patient. The implant has a support body and a rotatable insert therein and the support body is curved for installation between adjacent vertebral bodies transforaminally. An installation instrument is also disclosed for removable attachment to implant and engagement with the rotatable insert to selectively permit rotation between the insert and the support body. The installation instrument extends along a longitudinal tool axis and when the installation instrument is in a first position the insert is rotationally fixed with respect to the support body and when the installation instrument is in a second position the support body may rotate with respect to the insert.

  • Publication number: 20240016620
Abstract: A four-component artificial intervertebral disc may provide six degrees of movement: flexion, extension, lateral bending, axial rotation, axial deflection, and anterior/posterior translation. The disc may include a superior endplate, a superior core, an inferior core, and an inferior endplate. The superior endplate may include a concave mating surface, and the inferior endplate may include a spherical mating surface. The superior endplate may roll across the superior core to provide flexion, extension, and lateral bending. The superior endplate may twist or rotate atop the superior core to provide axial rotation, and the superior endplate may slide over the superior core to provide anterior/posterior translation. The superior core may be connected to the inferior core, and the inferior core may be connected to the inferior endplate. The inferior core may be made from a flexible material that may enable the artificial disc to expand or compress vertically.

Abstract: An orthopedic fixation device for affixing the screw head of a polyaxial pedicle screw has a tulip, a saddle, and a ring. The tulip has an interior cavity and two opposed threaded arms and a lower ledge. The saddle is inserted into the tulip body, and has a U shaped groove for receiving a spinal fixation rod. The ring has a diameter that is smaller than the widest diameter of the screw head, and is formable into a diameter larger than the widest diameter of the screw head when the screw head is pushed into the ring. The ring has a connection portion that mates with a connection portion of the saddle. The screw head is clamped within the tulip body between the saddle and the ring when a cap is threaded between the tulip arms.

  • Patent number: 11730528
Abstract: Misaligned bones on opposite sides of a joint are aligned using a first rigid extension securable to one of the misaligned bones using a particular surgical approach, and a second rigid extension having a contacting surface positionable in contact with the other the two misaligned bones from the same surgical approach. The first and second rigid extensions are moved with respect to each other using a lever, whereby a pulling force is exerted on one of the bones, and a pushing force on the other, thereby aligning the first and second misaligned bones.
