  • Patent number: 11936550
Abstract: A routing system can provide a Dynamic-Hybrid Forwarding Information Base (DHFIB). A control component of the routing system can build a routing table that includes routing information (e.g., prefixes, addresses, etc.) for use by a first routing component. The routing table can be ordered or ranked based on traffic information from the first routing component. Then, the control component can create the DHFIB from the routing table, wherein the DHFIB is a portion of the routing table and related to the first routing component. As such, the portion of the routing table selected for the DHFIB can be the set of prefixes in the routing table that represent the most frequently routed or most important prefixes in the routing table. Finally, the control component can forward the DHFIB to the first routing component to allow the routing component to route communications.

  • Publication number: 20240073123
Abstract: A method for high availability routing of a communication is provided. A broadcast routing message that includes a voice termination identifier is received from a communication service. Based upon the broadcast routing message, a secondary path for routing communications to an endpoint of the communication service associated with the voice termination identifier is identified. The secondary path provides an alternative route around a primary route over a packet-switched network to the communication service. An indication to setup a call to the endpoint. A metric for the primary route for the call through the service provider network connection that does not meet a defined condition is identified. In response to identifying that the metric for the primary route for the call through the service provider network connection does not meet the defined condition, the call is routed using the secondary path to the endpoint through the communication service.

  • Publication number: 20220086081
Abstract: A routing system can provide containerized router processes. The routing system can execute one or more router processes, e.g., the Border Gateway Protocol, the Access Control List, etc., in containers. Thus, the router processes can be upgraded, fail, etc. without affecting other router processes or the overall function of the router. When a router process is unavailable, requesting services may send messages to the container but may receive no response. To determine the availability of the router process, the requesting service may then request the status of the router process from a state database (statedb). The statedb can be a data store and interface that stores and reports the status of containers within the router. The statedb can reply to the requesting service as to whether the router process is available and/or with other information.
