  • Publication number: 20040167572
Abstract: Medical devices, and in particular implantable medical devices, may be coated to minimize or substantially eliminate a biological organism's reaction to the introduction of the medical device to the organism. The medical devices may be coated with any number of biocompatible materials. Therapeutic drugs, agents or compounds may be mixed with the biocompatible materials and affixed to at least a portion of the medical device. These therapeutic drugs, agents or compounds may also further reduce a biological organism's reaction to the introduction of the medical device to the organism. In addition, these therapeutic drugs, agents and/or compounds may be utilized to promote healing, including the formation of blood clots. Various materials and coating methodologies may be utilized to maintain the drugs, agents or compounds on the medical device until delivered and positioned. Medical devices include stents, grafts, anastomotic devices, perivascular wraps, sutures and staples.

  • Publication number: 20040054399
Abstract: A stent system is disclosed which comprises a stent made of a conventional metal alloy, such as stainless steel, coated with a nonconductive layer, in turn coated by a layer more radiodense than stainless steel, which system enhances radiopacity without permitting galvanic corrosion.

  • Patent number: 6656203
Abstract: A integral vascular filter system comprising a guidewire and an integral filter which can be used to capture embolic particulates during medical procedures, while allowing for continuous perfusion of blood, with minimal incremental blood flow turbulence. The vascular filter system addresses the clinical problem of minimizing profile or diameter, so as to enable or facilitate the crossing of a lesion or obstruction in the vessel, while also minimizing incremental blood flow turbulence which may result in thrombus formation.

  • Patent number: 6511472
Abstract: An interface needle is used for connecting a syringe to a catheter to create a blunt interface between two or more liquids being delivered through the catheter. The interface needle is particularly useful for creating a blunt interface between a biocompatible solvent and a liquid embolic composition which is delivered to the body for treatment of various conditions including aneurysms. A system for liquid delivery with a blunt liquid interface includes a catheter or other cannula, an interface needle, and a syringe. The interface needle includes a tube extending from a distal end which delivers liquid to a lumen of the catheter bypassing a reservoir in the catheter hub to create the blunt liquid interface. One embodiment of the interface needle controls an injection pressure of high viscosity liquids.

  • Publication number: 20030018354
Abstract: A integral vascular filter system comprising a multi-filament guidewire and an integral filter which may be used to capture embolic particulates during medical procedures, while allowing for continuous perfusion of blood. Filter activation is achieved via the use of a central core wire.
