  • Patent number: 9413801
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for merging media stream indexes of a media stream are described in this specification. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a first media stream index at a first server system, including a first list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers corresponding to at least a portion of multiple sequentially arranged fragments. Fragment identifiers that are potentially missing from the first index can be identified. A second media stream index including a second list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers corresponding to at least a portion of the multiple sequentially arranged fragments can be requested from a second server system. The first and second list of the sequentially arranged fragment identifiers can be compared and the first list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers can be reconstructed based on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 9225520
Abstract: Various embodiments of a system and method for deterministic generation of a common content encryption key on distinct encryption units are described. Embodiments may include, for each given content item of multiple content items that represent one or more portions of a common media object, controlling a different encryption unit of multiple distinct encryption units to i) generate a content encryption key for the given content item based on: a common base secret shared by the multiple distinct encryption units, and an identifier specific to the media object, and ii) encrypt the given content item with the respective content encryption key generated for that content item in order to generate a respective encrypted content item. Each content encryption key generated for a given content item may be equivalent to each other content encryption key such that decryption of each encrypted content item requires a common decryption key.

  • Patent number: 5999709
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allocating memory usage in a visual output device having a render engine, a display list memory for storing display list objects and a compressed band buffer memory for storing compressed bitmap data rendered by the render engine. The method includes storing display list objects in the display list memory and detecting that the display list memory is full. Upon detecting the display list memory is full and determining that the compressed band buffer memory is not full, display list data is transferred from display list memory to the compressed band buffer memory, thereby freeing space in the display list memory space for more display list objects.
