  • Patent number: 6378661
Abstract: An elevator control system which is installed in a pit of an elevator shaft in an elevator system is protected from flooding in the pit with the provision of an immersion proof structure for the control system. The elevator control system has a control device which can be installed in the pit of the elevator shaft so as to enhance the maintainability thereof since the necessity of a machine room can be eliminated from the elevator system. The immersion proof structure has a bag-like member which covers the control device and which has a top part opened for heat radiation from the elevator control device, the top part being located above the level of the floor of a lowermost one of stories of a building in which the elevator system is installed.

  • Patent number: 5067593
Abstract: A braking device for an elevator winding machine generates a braking force by contacting a rotary body driven by a rotary shaft of the winding machine with a brake section supported through the intermediary of an elastic body. The elastic body has a nonlinear elastic characteristic so that a starting shock to the passengers in the elevator car is prevented and the braking torque detecting accuracy is improved.

  • Patent number: 5025896
Abstract: An elevator car and a counterweight is suspended on a sheave by means of a rope in a well-rope faashion. In dependence on the number of passengers on the car, the sheave is applied with an unbalance torque making appearance between the car and counterweight. Upon starting of the elevator operation by releasing a brake, upward or backward bouncing of the car takes place due to the unbalance torque. For preventing such bouncing of the car, a start compensation is performed by generating a motor torque which can cancel out the unbalance torque in precedence to the releasing of the brake. The brake is installed swingably on a winding equipment. Displacement of the brake during actuation thereof indicates the presence of the unbalance torque.

  • Patent number: 4982815
Abstract: An elevator apparatus includes an electric motor for driving the elevator apparatus, an elevator cage adapted to be lifted or lowered by the electric motor, a brake device for holding and retaining an elevator driving system, including the electric motor, and a malfunction detecting device responsive to the application of a torque to a retainer section of the brake device during the lifting or lowering of the elevator cage.

  • Patent number: 4869347
Abstract: There is disclosed an elevator speed control apparatus, in which a final signal representative of a traveling speed to be detected is determined by changing a first provisional signal depending on the traveling speed in accordance with a second provisional signal, when a difference between the two provisional signals exceeds a predetermined value; the first provisional signal being obtained on the basis of a pulse width of a pulse from a rotary encoder rotating with the travel of the elevator and the second one being obtained on the basis of a number of pulses in the pulse train for a predetermined sampling period.

  • Patent number: 4852694
Abstract: Elevator starting compensation for preventing bounding and dash-out phenomena of an elevator cage possibly occurring due to unbalanced torque produced by a difference in weight between the cage and a counter weight. Adjusting quantities utilized in the starting compensation are arithmetically determined by a microcomputer employed for the elevator control, the result of the arithmetic operation being are stored in an electrically erasable programmable read-only memory. The starting compensation is performed on the basis of the adjusting quantities stored in the memory. The adjustment is facilitated.

  • Patent number: 4773508
Abstract: An inverter, which supplies an induction motor for driving an elevator with DC power, is controlled by means of a vector control method. A rotating angular speed of the induction motor is detected from a torque component of a detected motor current. A present position of an elevator cage is calculated on the basis of the detected rotating angular speed.
