  • Publication number: 20060170967
Abstract: There is disclosed an apparatus for searching a device on a network. A device search client links a search condition for searching the device with an icon to store the search condition. When a user designates the icon, the search condition linked with the icon and stored is inquired of a device search server to obtain the search result. Subsequently, the display form of the designated icon corresponding to the search condition is changed based on the obtained search result.

  • Publication number: 20060170952
Abstract: It is desired that only necessary document pages be picked up from an enormous quantity of documents and copied by controlling copying operation on the basis of information designated by a user. For this purpose, a plurality of images are input, each image is segmented into objects, and an object as a search key is set. It is then determined, with respect to each of the plurality of images, whether the objects segmented from the image includes the object as the search key. Images containing the object as the search key are selectively copied out of the plurality of images.

  • Patent number: 7085763
Abstract: According to the present invention, a search condition can be moderated to easily understand a desired device without performing re-search, even if there is no device completely matching the search condition. An attribute of an object class is extracted out of the search condition designated by an operator to search a device meeting the attribute. A matching state of each attribute of the search condition first designated by the operator for a result obtained from the above search is visibly displayed.

  • Publication number: 20060158676
Abstract: An object of this invention is to provide an information processing apparatus which can provide a plurality of services via a network, can easily manage objects to be processed which are permitted to be processed by the service, and enhances security for respective objects to be processed. To this end, an MFP according to this embodiment is an MFP (100) which can provide a plurality of services (306 to 308), and has a read unit for accessing a script (305) that describes information associated with a document file and reading the information, a unit (302) for, when a request is received, instructing to execute authentication processing of a user who issued the request, and a unit (301) for, when the user authentication has succeeded, checking based on the information whether or not a file included in the request is a file which is not permitted to be processed by the service. If it is determined that the file is permitted to be processed by the service, the service processes the file.

  • Publication number: 20060143212
Abstract: In an information processing apparatus which can encrypt a file and can store the encrypted file at a predetermined location, an input file is separated into a header field and data field, and the separated data field is encrypted and saved in association with information included in the header field. In the meantime, a keyword required to specify the file is extracted from the separated data field, and the extracted keyword is converted into a hash value. The obtained hash value is stored in association with the information included in the header field. Upon storing a file, the contents of the file after storage can be prevented from being easily recognized by a third party.

  • Patent number: 6996555
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for searching a device on a network. The device searching server acquires a search condition from the device searching client, searches a device on the network and returns the search result to the device searching client. If the number of the device matching the search condition is at least equal to a predetermined number, additional information such as location information and charge information is added to the search result. Also if the device matching the search condition is absent, a device of a high frequency of use, determined on the use history, is outputted as the search result.

  • Publication number: 20060026150
Abstract: An information processing apparatus divides print data into data pieces and generates a hash value of each data piece. The information processing apparatus generates one unit of transmitting data by adding the generated hash value to a data piece different from the data piece whose hash value is generated, and transmits the transmitting data to an image processing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6981036
Abstract: Each network device connected to a network broadcasts a cold start trap when activated. A monitoring device captures this trap and checks whether the trap is an SNMP packet. If the trap is an SNMP packet, the monitoring device extracts the address from the received packet and registers the address in a directory server, or requests the status of a device as a transmission source and registers the received status in the directory server.

  • Patent number: 6574662
Abstract: Conventionally, crowded network traffic occurs because duplicated data exchange is performed between network management software and network devices. A network-device management method according to the present invention includes a search step of searching a device connected to a network, an acquisition step of acquiring a value of a device attribute relating to the device detected in the search in the search step, and a storage step of storing values of a plurality of device attributes relating to the device detected in the search in a storage device. If the value of each of the plurality of device attributes relating to the device detected in the search is stored in the storage device, the value stored in the storage device is used. It is thereby possible to prevent crowded network traffic by transmitting and receiving only necessary packets in a network-device search sequence.

  • Patent number: 6191807
Abstract: A pointing cursor is moved to a position on a file icon to be transferred in a file list using a position input unit. Thereafter, a button of the position input unit is depressed to select the file icon. The position input unit is moved while depressing its button so as to move the pointing cursor into a display area of a received image, and thereafter, the button of the position input unit is released. At this time, a drag & drop event is generated by a basic software program. Therefore, by only dragging the icon of the file to be transferred by operating the position input unit, an instruction input for a series of file transfer processes can be attained, and the operability for the file transfer function can be improved.

  • Patent number: 6182225
Abstract: A network device control unit and method are provided in which the same password is used for both starting up the network management software, and for acquiring information and making settings in the target network device, so that password entry for access to a network device can be omitted and the operability of network management software can be greatly improved. To implement the unit and method, the password entered by the user at start-up of NetSpot is detected, and when the network device to be controlled is selected, the password previously set to control access to this selected network device is acquired. Then this network device password is compared with the NetSpot password, and when the passwords match each other, the password entry for that network device is omitted and the detailed information for that network device is acquired and displayed.

  • Patent number: 5732132
Abstract: A communication terminal apparatus is so adapted that when an outgoing call to the terminal of a desired party ends in failure, it is determined whether the cause of the failure is a change in the terminal number of the party's terminal. This determination is made based upon cause-indicating information contained in a message received via a communication line. In a case where it is found that the cause of the failure is a change in the party's terminal number, the new terminal number is acquired from the received message. A recall operation is then performed to place the outgoing call again, this time to the new terminal number that has been acquired.

  • Patent number: 4028287
Abstract: Method for the preparation of a foam polyamide in which the lactam together with a basic catalyst at a temperature above the melting point of the lactam is mixed with the promoter and foaming agent in a mixing vessel at ambient temperature while subjecting the mix to violent agitation to initiate polymerization, and the mix is discharged into a container for completion of the reaction before polymerization is more than 10% complete.
