  • Patent number: 5055098
Abstract: An automatic power transmission includes a clutch drum integrally connected with an one-way clutch which is fixed to a support secured on a transmission casing so that each one bearing is required for supporting the clutch drum and the one-way clutch. A sun gear is also supported by means of a single bearing and is integrally formed with a spline which is loosely engageable with a spline of the clutch drum so that the radial force may not act in the spline engagement while an engine output torque is transmitted therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4840261
Abstract: A hydraulic actuator for hydraulically actuating a clutch mechanism to selectively engage a clutch drum and a planetary gear unit of an automatic transmission is disclosed, which comprises a chamber defined by the clutch drum; a piston operatively disposed in the chamber to form a fluid work chamber; a drain valve including a drain bore formed in the piston having one end exposed to the fluid work chamber and a valve ball movably disposed in the drain bore in such a manner that when the fluid work chamber is filled with a pressurized fluid, the ball closes the drain bore; and a flow straightening structure exposed to the fluid work chamber and formed on at least one of the piston and a bottom of the fluid work chamber in order to suppress formation of vortex flow near a mouth of the drain bore.

  • Patent number: 4726261
Abstract: A hydraulic control system comprises a distributor valve including a valve body formed with a first port communicating with a pressure regulator and a second inlet port. The valve body is also formed with a plurality of outlet ports communicating with corresponding frictional elements, respectively. A solenoid operated relief valve is fluidly disposed between the pressure regulator and the second inlet port of the valve body. The distributor valve includes a rotary valve element operatively connected with a stepping motor. The rotary valve element is rotatably disposed within a bore of the valve body and has a plurality of angular positions for connecting the outlet ports to the first inlet port, second inlet port and drainage, selectively. The solenoid of the relief valve is of the proportioning type and is controlled by a control unit. The stepping motor is also controlled by the control unit.

  • Patent number: 4636866
Abstract: A personal liquid crystal image display includes a housing to be worn on a user's head, a light-transmission-type liquid crystal display panel for displaying video signals and a lens positioned between the display panel and a user's eye to enlarge the image. The housing may include earphones. The display and earphones are coupled to a tuner for receiving signal and driving the display and earphones. A portion of the drive circuit for driving the display may be disposed in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4600071
Abstract: In order to prevent sudden fluctuations in the supply of hydraulic fluid fed to a power steering or like servo mechanism and to enable the downshifting of a transmission used to drive the pump and an ancillary device such as an alternator, at speeds suited to the specifications of the alternator, a "flow-down" valve induces first and second flow reductions which are separated by an engine speed range which enables the higher downshift speed to be selected at an engine speed suited to the specifications of the alternator. The first flow reduction or flow-down occurs within a relatively narrow engine speed range. This facilitates the above mentioned selection and additionally enables a change from a high power steering assist at low speed to an intermediate one. The second "flow-down" enables a more gradual change from the intermediate assist to a low level one suitable for high speed driving.
