  • Patent number: 5734537
Abstract: In a rotary head drum of a recording/reproduction apparatus, for smoothly holding a magnetic tape over a guide step provided on a lower drum to guide the magnetic tape, part of a chamfer formed in the guide step is formed as a large chamfer in which a chamfered amount is larger than that of the remaining part of the chamfer. With the provision of the large chamfer, even if the lower edge of the magnetic tape deviates from the guide step when the tape is wound over or unwound from the drum, damages of the magnetic tape can be prevented. Therefore, the position and attitude control of tape withdrawing members can be greatly simplified and the magnetic tape can always run stably while being restricted in its position by the guide step.

  • Patent number: 5301073
Abstract: A take-up pulley is provided with a power input member and a power output member which are radially divided, both of the members being engaged with each other over their peripheral surfaces. An elastic force of an annular elastic member acts on the engagement portion between both the power output member and the power input member in the peripheral direction in order to obtain a predetermined frictional engagement force between the power input member and the power output member.

  • Patent number: 5296994
Abstract: A magnetic tape guide mechanism for a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus which includes a base having a large-inner-diameter hole with a larger inner diameter than a shaft hole, and a resilient synthetic resin member located in the large-inner-diameter hole and surrounding the shaft of a tape guide. As a result, a horizontally extended threaded hole and fixing screw conventionally required are eliminated and the overall construction is simplified. Moreover, the adjustment work is facilitated and the overall production cost of the components are substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 5291350
Abstract: A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, wherein a rotor device is arranged in such a manner that one end of an orbiting or rotating shaft which is integral with the rotor is inserted in an opening portion of a main base plate of the apparatus, while the other end of the shaft is inserted in an opening portion of a sub-base plate opposite to the main base plate, and preferably, a plurality of such rotor devices are provided in series and engage with one another to thereby perform predetermined operations. With this construction, the number of components and the manufacturing cost can be reduced, and also, the expense for building sub-assemblies can be saved.

  • Patent number: 5262910
Abstract: A cassette loading device, wherein, when a rack, formed on a tray supporting a holder for holding a cassette, comes out of mesh with a pinion gear serving as a drive source, the tray itself is engaged with the pinion gear, so that the pinion gear urges the tray, thereby transferring the tray to a position of completion of its horizontal transfer thereby enabling the cassette to be transferred in a stable manner.

  • Patent number: 5170304
Abstract: A cleaning device for cleaning a rotary magnetic head of a magnetic recording and reproducing device includes a cleaning member which is movable into and out of contact with the rotating magnetic head. The cleaning device is activated through the operation of a manually operable button and under the control of an electronic control device. The cleaning member is automatically brought into contact with the magnetic head to clean the same. The operation of the cleaning device is carried out in association with an operation of a tape loading mechanism of the magnetic recording and reproducing device. The vertical position of the cleaning member is changed when it is contacted with the magnetic head, so that the portion of the cleaning member to be contacted with the magnetic head is changed.

  • Patent number: 5016130
Abstract: Grooves are formed on the armor portion of a magnetic head. Elastic pieces having nails for linking to the grooves of the head, and a concave portion for positioning the head are integrally molded with a mounting arm for mounting the head. Linkage of the head to the mounting arm is achieved by the linkage of the elastic pieces to the grooves.

  • Patent number: 4809115
Abstract: A light-emitting element and light-receiving elements are embedded upright in a single printed wiring board for cooperating with one another in detecting the leader tape portion of a magnetic tape. Such a printed wiring board is fixed to a chassis by means of which a magnetic tape cassette is held in position. This arrangement enables a reduction in the number of leads and connectors, and hence greatly decreases the number of connections to the body of a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus, thereby improving its adaptability with respect to automated assembly.

  • Patent number: 4499512
Abstract: A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus including a reel drive system having a first transmitting path for high-speed magnetic tape feed, and a second transmitting path for constant-speed magnetic tape feed. The first transmitting path includes a drive pulley for driving a pair of magnetic tape reels through oscillating idler means which is supported on a support shaft located on a bisector perpendicular to the center of the pair of magnetic tape reels to directly transmit the rotation of a reversible motor to the drive pulley. The second transmitting path transmits the rotation of the reversible motor through a slip mechanism to obtain a predetermined output torque. One of the two transmitting path is selected for each operation mode as switching of the operation modes is effected.
