  • Patent number: 4577480
Abstract: In a rolling mill of the type in which horizontal pushing forces are exerted to a work roll exerted with a rolling force so as to bend the work roll, thereby controlling the flatness of a strip being rolled, a method and apparatus for controlling rolling correction in the rolling mill for eliminating variations in rolling load due to the horizontal pushing forces.

  • Patent number: 4375688
Abstract: In a gas laser tube including a laser capillary tube having one fixed end secured to the envelope surrounding the capillary tube and one free end. A support structure for the free end comprising a discharge diverting tube extending from the envelope toward and overlapping the free end of the laser capillary tube and a coil spring interposed between the free end portion of the laser capillary tube and the inner wall of the discharge diverting tube. The free end portion of the capillary tube is supported resiliently by the coil spring and the capillary tube is kept straight without bending or vibrating while absorbing the elongation of the capillary tube caused by thermal expansion.

  • Patent number: 4349908
Abstract: A linearly polarizing internal mirror type gas laser tube comprises a channel-shaped holder pair for axially compressively holding a Brewster plate in a hollow cylindrical space surrounded by an inside surface of a pipe. Each holder comprises a side wall pair and a connecting wall connecting the side wall pair. Each side wall has a pair of protrusions having a common axial end plane that provides the Brewster angle. The holders are brought into contact with the Brewster plate with the protrusions made to contact with corner portions of the plate. The side walls may have free ends spaced apart from the pipe inside surface. Alternatively, the side walls of at least one of the holders may have outwardly bent portions having free ends brought into contact with the pipe inside surface. It is readily possible to press shape the holders at low costs from a metal sheet.

  • Patent number: 4152674
Abstract: An air spaced etalon for wavelength selection including a spacer comprised of two hollow cylindrical members abutting each other in end-to-end aligned relation. A high degree of parallelism of two seconds or less can be easily obtained between the opposite end surfaces of the compound spacer by adjusting the relative angular position of the spacer members irrespective of the parallelism of the end surfaces of the individual spacer members. This enables production of high performance etalons with reduced cost and high yield.
