  • Patent number: 4272460
Abstract: A variable venturi type carburetor of an internal combustion engine which includes a housing, a bore extending through the housing and having an inner wall defining an intake passage, a suction piston movably mounted in the housing and having a head portion projecting into the intake passage and a fuel injection valve. The suction piston moves so as to change the cross-sectional area of the venturi portion defined between the head portion of the suction piston and an inner wall of the intake passage. A pipe member connected to the fuel injection valve is opened to the intake passage in a position opposite the head portion with regard to the intake passage. The fuel injected from the injection valve is supplied through the pipe member to the intake passage.

  • Patent number: 4264537
Abstract: A variable venturi type carburetor of an internal combustion engine which includes a housing, a bore extending through the housing and having an inner wall defining an intake passage, a suction piston movably mounted in the housing and having a head portion projecting into the intake passage and a fuel injection valve arranged at the position opposite to the head portion of the suction piston with regard to the intake passage. The suction piston moves so as to change the cross-sectional area of the venturi portion defined between the head portion of the suction piston and an inner wall of the intake passage. The head portion of the suction piston is provided with a recess which extends along a line crossing with the central axis of the suction piston and is arranged in parallel to the direction of air flowing in the intake passage.

  • Patent number: 4259935
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for injecting fuel into an intake air supply passage which is communicated with the combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine. The device comprises: a swingable throttle shaft having a hole formed therein along a longitudinal axis thereof and traversing an intake air supply passage; a throttle valve plate fixed to the throttle shaft for throttling the intake air supply passage so that the throttle valve plate can vary the opening of the air supply passage due to the swing of the throttle shaft; and a fuel injection outlet portion formed at the proximity of the surface of the throttle valve plate and communicated with one of the hole. Fuel supplied from the fuel injection outlet portion is uniformly admixed with the air flow which is caused to contract by the throttle valve plate.

  • Patent number: 4159000
Abstract: Air is blown into a combustion furnace via an inlet disposed in the upper section of the furnace and the incoming air is made to flow in a fixed spirally descending path along the inner wall of the furnace proper. Material subjected to combustion is carried by the flow of air to the layer of burning material at the bottom of the furance by previously deposited combustible material, there to be burnt. By virtue of the action of the current of air, the combustion gas from the combustion is vigorously whirled upwardly in the same rotational direction as that of the air current in the annular region defined by the fixed path of the spirally descending air current. This ascending current of air is enclosed within the annular region defined by the descending current.

  • Patent number: 4156345
Abstract: Disclosed is a secondary air feed control device comprising a movable valve and a movable valve seat having a first and a second valve port. The first valve port is connected to the secondary air inlet disposed in the exhaust pipe, while the second valve port is connected to the atmosphere. The movable valve is arranged between the first and second valve ports so as to co-operate with the first and second valve ports. An oxygen concentration detector, providing a detecting signal indicating that the total air-fuel ratio is smaller than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio, is disposed in the exhaust pipe. The opening area of the first valve port is controlled so as to be increased in accordance with an increase in the level of the load of the engine and in response to the detecting signal when the total air-fuel ratio becomes smaller than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio.
