    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a tire having a sidewall portion provided with a projecting marking is disclosed. A stencil plate for molding the projecting marking is made of a thin metallic plate whose thickness is 0.2 to 0.8 mm and mounted in a recess formed in a sidewall molding surface of the tire vulcanization mold. A concave marking part for molding the projecting marking is formed by press working upon the metallic plate. Edge portions of the stencil plate are turned back. The backward extension H2 of the turnback is substantially the same as the depth of the concave marking part.

    Abstract: A studless tire comprises a tread provided with a plurality of blocks and at least one rib provided with first sipes and second sipes each extending across the rib. The first sipes and second sipes are alternately arranged in the longitudinal direction of the rib at circumferential pitches Pc in a range of from 0.028 to 0.04 times a ground contacting width of the tread. Each of the first sipes and second sipes comprises a deep central part, a shallow part on one side thereof and a mid-depth part on the other side thereof, wherein the deep central part has a depth in a range of from 0.70 to 0.80 times a depth of a main longitudinal groove defining the rib, the mid-depth part has a depth being in a range of from 0.40 to 0.60 times the depth of the main longitudinal groove, and the shallow part has a depth in a range of from 0.04 to 0.35 times the depth of the main longitudinal groove.

    Abstract: A pneumatic tire comprises: a carcass ply extending between bead portions and including a topping rubber layer, the topping rubber layer facing the inside of the tire and made of a butyl rubber compound containing at least 10 parts by weight of butyl rubber or butyl rubber derivative; and a belt disposed radially outside the carcass in the tread portion, the belt comprising at least one ply of monofilament cords laid at an angle of from 10 to 40 degrees with respect to the circumferential direction of the tire, and each of the monofilament cord consisting of a single filament. The belt further comprises one ply of multifilament cords or one ply of monofilament cords. The height of a bead apex, which is disposed between a carcass ply turnup portion and main portion in each bead portion, can be reduced into a range of from 10 to 20 mm, and in this case, the carcass ply turnup portion is extended radially outwardly beyond the radially outer end of the bead apex so as to adjoin the carcass ply main portion.

    Abstract: A pneumatic radial tire comprises a breaker-belt disposed radially outside a carcass, and a band-belt disposed radially outside the breaker-belt and having organic fiber cords laid in substantially parallel with the tire equator. In the meridian section of the tire which is mounted on a standard rim and inflated to 0.5% of a standard inner pressure, the tread has a triple radius profile and the band-belt having a variable ply number accommodated to the triple radii of the tread such that the number of plies throughout more than sixty percent (60%) of the axial width of the parts of the tread having the first, second and third radii of curvature, respectively, are different from each other. The tread profile is composed of a central part of a radius R1, a pair of middle parts of a radius R2, and a pair of shoulder parts of a radius R3. For example, the ply number N1 in the central part is 0, the ply number N2 in the middle parts is 1, and the ply number N3 in the shoulder parts is 2.

The inner carcass ply is disposed inside and adjacent to the main portion and extending at least from the tread portion to the bead portions. The inner carcass ply is not wrapped around the bead core, and the radially inner end thereof is located radially inward of the radial outer end of the bead apex.
